Heavy Snow at Cradle - 12/07/08

Postby Speculator » Mon 14 Jul, 2008 7:23 pm

Spent Saturday night at Cradle courtesy of the Scouts. Snowfalls down to 600m on Friday and some more during Saturday made for some pretty tough wandering about the place. Took in Marions and Crater Peak, hurt myself, freaked Corvus out, and met some mad skiers in the process. Here's some photos:

Wandered up to Crater Peak for a look... great view... that's crater lake down there! :

Still plenty to look at along the way though:

The snow, she was deep in places:

The tracks were still being walked though:

Even in the bleakest weather it still manages to look good up there:

We went up there the day before- it was amazing. We had to have our chains on for 28 km's- from just outside Moina. There were a few people that got themselves into real strife on the roads. When we got there we were only able to do the hikes around the Visitor's Centre, but it was just amazing.

How lucky you were to score the Scout Hut on that weekend! Hope you had heaps of Hot Chocolate!
