Mt Pillinger

I had to visit the NW last week and took a day out to visit Mt Pillinger. One of my favourite walks - my first trip there was with Mr Nash from Devonport High in the mid 60's. It really fired my interest in bush walking.
The early morning view driving over Mt Claude was great:

The track to Pillinger was mostly clear, but there is plenty of snow in the central Reserve.

The Du Cane Range looked great:

and Ossa and Pelion East were plastered:

Trashed a car wheel on the way out on the Arm River Road. That's the third time I've damaged a car on that road - its a good thing the walk is worth the cost.

Actually, that pic of the Du canes and Lees paddocks was taken, not from the summit, but from the bluffs further to the south. Quite worth the walk and scrub bash for the slightly different viewpoint.

Nice pics there. Certainly a lot clearer day than when I did it a while back. I think we picked the hottest day in history and the sky was hazy with smoke from the bushfires in Victoria at the time. Definitely a walk I'll have to do again sometime in the future
