Okay, so I have a bit of a plan.
Look's like my two nights may have been culled down to one........
Wifey wants to do a bit more on our 8 days other than sit around waiting for me for 3 of them. I can kinda see where she's coming from but my eyes are somewhat clouded.
Oh well, I'll just have to do a longer, 100% walk focused trip later in the year or next.
Ideally she would come with me on the walk but her knee has given her curry since NZ South Island last Nov when she has irritated something in it.
We did 15k's the other week from Cowan to Brooklyn on GNW and towards the end her knee really flamed up again.
Talking to a few specialists now but I'm planning for her to count this one out and just do some shorter day walk things with me for now till it's healed/repaired.
Look's like I'll do the following.
Day 1.
Depart from Ronney Creek, Wander up the Lake Rodway Track, Joint the Cradle Cirque and climb Barn Bluff (Pending weather), Continue onto Windemere. Worst case and I'm a bit slower than normal, Stay in Waterfall Valley.
Day 2
Early start, Return along the OLT from Windemere, drop into Lake Will, Peak Cradle Mt if weather is kind. Hopefully meet my wife somewhere around Marion's Lookout, Dove Lake etc. Might lug a small UHF so we can find out where each other is at specifically.
I know I'll have a bit of back tracking but it's looking like my best option.
It's either this or just day walks. I'd really like to get a night out somewhere while we are down south and we will be in the area and all.......
Open to suggestions, Any other options that may be off track to form a better loop starting/ ending in Ronney creek or area. PM if required for that.
I believe the above plan should work out time wise, it's mainly day one that will be a bit longer I think ??
I rip along quickly though and being a one nighter should have quite a light pack load.
Most of the OLT looks like simple walking. Hopefully I can find some mud and rocks to play in at somepoint.
