Hi Folks,
Just a quick reply. Lots of good replies above. Unfortunately I don't have any photos of the crossing in winter as haven't done that crossing in years as I prefer Quartz Ridge in winter where you would be extremely unlucky to have issues for very long with the crossing there. Several times I have been lucky enough to have had a decent cover of snow that has allowed us to ski all the way down either side yet the crossing there wasn't an issue.
My brother and I have traversed the full AAWT in winter and we certainly did experience issues with river crossings - primarily in northern Kosci. One creek that was a 3m wide ankle crossing in summer was a 150m flood plain with chest deep water - this cost us easily half a day of travel as we had to walk for a couple of hours upstream before we could cross. Obviously you are already considering strategies and routes which is great. If you are interested you can watch a video that we have just posted on Vimeo of the trip. It is posted in 2 parts as it is quite long. Apologies for this - it was never intended for the web but rather for family & friends.

I sincerely wish you both all the best for the trip! It is well worth the effort!! I am sure that we will see lots of successful trips in the near future and I look forward to seeing your images or hearing of your story afterwards.
