Hi
I have 3 and half days of bonus walking for the first time in Tas next week. I am looking for something physically challenging, hopefully wet, hopefully cold, where naigation isn't too much of an issue and without any dangerous ledges to fall off.
I am considering either frenchmans cap track, a little run and explore around the valley hut area, or the arm track and ossa and perhaps a bit more.
Any advice or any other reasonable suggestions. I am taking a tent and hoping to get wet and cold, but not too lost.
Thanks,
Nathan

You could camp on top of Frenchman's to enhance the wet and cold factor. What is the 'valley hut area'?

This time of year Arm River track into Pelion Plains then on to Ossa should give you a cold and wet experience
and if there is snow/ice on the Ossa ascent it could be a bit of a challange

Those walks would be great. It;s also hard to beat walking in to Pine Valley, Acropolis and Labyrinth. You have the option of camping low and doing day walks to the peaks or camping up high on the Labyrinth.

All good options, another for a really wet and cold experience would be 2 night at pigsty ponds. Fantastic place for a basecamp with the options of climbing Laperouse and Pindars. Certain to be cold, likely to be wet.

I recommend 'Boags Draught', they are wet, cold and if you drink enough of them things tend to get physically challenging

I was thinking just drinking that pig swill is a physical challenge. Let alone keeping it down long enough to try and forget it ever happened.
I think our friend Eduard Khil said it best, yes doogs...

Thanks for the insights.

Ok, so just to sum up what I did. I ended up chosing Frenchmans cap.
Wet ? I would call it more like flooded.
Cold ? only when in the tent at night with not many things still dry
Fun ? Definatly
Had a great time. Only down side. I didn't have enough days and day light to make it all the way up. Still, its the journey that counts.
