TIP: The online
Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

I second buying from WIlderness Wear. I've bought a rain jacket, fleece jacket, fleece jumper, wool flanny, synthetic pants and synthetic shorts (only $10!), long wool socks and a couple of merino caps over the years. Every time I buy something, I seem to get a freebie (usually merino socks) thrown in. I once got a PU nylon jacket in the package.
I like the "Commando Socks". They are long and warm but not fluffy like explorer socks so they wash out a bit easier and don't catch grass seeds as much. There are plenty to choose from anyway. I suspect there might even be some new stuff coming out soon....

I just received an order from wilderness wear and their gear is awesome quality and price. For the thirty something I paid for the merino tshirt it is awesome. Plus it doesn't itch (now that truly is a miracle with me). Socks are brilliant and great value...the $6.95 snowboard/ski socks I can't get over the quality for price.
Im off to buy some more

These work

Is there a seller of the Feathered Friends socks in Australia? They sound perfect for my needs as I my feet freeze no matter how warm my core is.

Feathered Friends are a 'cottage' type manufacturer, I don't think they have a Aus distributor. However, they have no problems shipping to Aus and are quick to do so.

OK Cheers for that - will be a better option than wearing Fourth Element Xerotherm and Arctic socks with Weezle boots over the top.
