I've thought much about the ideal bushwalking/fly fishing shirt - ie very breathable, but with a reasonable degree of water resistance - such that you could wear it in light to moderate rain, and it would repel the water. Goretex or equivalent woud be too "hot". I wondered about event or epic fabrics, but haven't found a commercially available product. I tried using one of the Nikwax products on a Columbia shirt, but it really wasn't water resistant enough. Likewise scotch guard didn't work.
My Black Diamond winter bivvy bag is made from epic fabric, and I was thinking of cutting it upto make such a shirt. Has anyone any ideas that will save it from destruction....?

What about a windshirt, I have a Patagonia Houdini and I use it in light rain.

A mate wore a green Houdini when we went fly fishing. I Outnumbered him 15:0 in the fish caught
Those Houdinis often come in "Hey! look at me" sort of colours which might grab the fish's attention.
Do you think you'll have a bit of a problem with that Black diamond Yellow Epic?

Actually,my BD epic is dark green.....

Why not just buy some EPIC? Rockywoods had some and i bought 4 M a while go, heavy duty tho for an out garment,

That's pretty heavy duty fabric.....7 oz/m Moondog. It'd be like wearing a shirt made of std weight rucksack fabric..

It is reasonably solid, don't forget that is 7oz per linear yard not GSM.
How much fabric do you need, I could sell you a length but it isn't as cheap as the Rockywoods stuff, .
