I am planning on, self guided, 6 day Tarkine rainforest trail and would like to know what topo maps I need for this area.
Am from NSW and have phoned the parks and wild life service however they have not been able to help.

See the Tasmap web page (government mapping agency). They have an graphical index of their 1:100,000 and 1:25,000 maps at:
https://www.tasmap.tas.gov.au/upload/st ... oIndex.pdfThat should tell you which ones you need, if you know where it is you will be going. The 1:25k are great for navigation, but you may need several of them if covering a large area.

check out this post
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2726&p=27858&hilit=tasmap+kml#p27993 You can download a kmz file for google earth and it will show you the bounds of all the tasmaps. If you know where the track goes then this will make the job easy.

That little file is one of my absolute favourites. I use it nearly every day.
