TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

question is, if its a replacement why doesnt the macpac issuer make sure the replacement is up to spec, wheres the quality control of the garments if they let them out of the factory in that condition? sounds patchy at best, non existant at worst...

Wayno, as I said earlier, we inspect every shipment with sgs and 100% lightboxed off the roll. I accept that somehow a batch with a glue issue was produced, on the fabric used on hollyfords. We are replacing these products , changed mills...we do the right thing.

"we" if your staff all did the right thing mate , this chap wouldnt have had to argue to get his jacket replaced in a decent amount of time when he initially complained and he wouldnt have received a second blatantly faulty jacket.

What's important to me is that Macpac has backed up it warranty claim with action (in my case). I'm happy to invest my money with a company that does that. 15 years ago i had issues with a Macpac Relex rain jacket, and this was also sorted under warranty, no cost to me. All my other Macpac gear is still solid. I won't touch Reflex now personally, and now i'm also dubious about eVent, but i can take into account blacksheeps 'mill' explanation which helps. We will see how this replacement replacement holds up over the next 9 month before i decide to buy more Hollyfords for the rest of my family.

Dwr, wetting out is a completely different complaint. It is neither a material or manufacturing defect, but rather dwr deterioration can be caused by a number of factors, and is quite rewritable. But if you want it assessed, or perhaps we can restore for you, either way you shouldn't need a receipt, we can work out age of the product.

Hi Phillipsart,

What Blacksheep said as far as returning your jacket also applies to a md's jacket. Take it into your nearest store and they'll be happy to have it assessed for a fault and replace or repair if warranted. Reciepts aren't essential for this sort of thing but if you can work out when you bought it that will help with finding the sale history on the system.

Make sure it's clean when you take it in!

Cheers,

Dee

might pay to avoid the tumble drier too if you're washing it,, ent thinks this exacerbated his delamination issue

Update:
My Hollyford is going well, i wash it after every major use (ie 2-3 day hike) and it still beads for the first few hours in rain. I bought one for the Wife 6 months ago and that has also been fine.
