TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. +1 for these overmitts, I use the Possum Merino gloves underneath.

Like others have said, they're the sort of thing you carry around more than use, but when things turn nasty, they are great to have.

I had a look around town yesterday.
The OR Latitude that Wyno linked to are probably the best bet.
Montane also have something similar but out of stock in Melbourne.

I actually didn't get a chance after all to look in the gear shops last weekend. But thank you everyone for all your suggestions. I'll go hunting again in a Month or so.
