TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Second hand score

I was instructed to get rid of some "Stuff" so went down the local junk shop to see if they wanted this "Thingie" Talking to the owner I did a swap for a couple of boxes of old assorted camping gear.
Got it home and found that what I thought was 3 single aluminium billies was actually 3 nesting billies in each. Anybody want one??
As I did so well these will be $3- each plus postage although one of them is rusty so decorative only; one for the collectors?
In fact the big plastic crate all this was packed in was worth the swap on its own. Japanese boy scout knife fork and spoon set any-one?
Some of this is going to be listed on ebay as Vietnam era Army gear is for collectors these days but there was an issue hootchie and a West German poncho in the bottom of the box as well as an old canteen and cup from 1969 ( I'll probably keep the kidney cup tho ) If you want photos of the score I'll post them but mainly this post is for interest only. Even I no longer eat off an enamel plate
I may take the LPG stove to Falls Creek for the basecamp tho, it works and the bottle is full of gas still, the gas lamp even has an intact mantle

What does the 'instructor' think of you getting rid of 'stuff' and scoring even better 'stuff'?
Sounds like you had a rather nice little outing :)

She wasn't really happy, I haven't told her about the old speakers I bought in the same shop for $10- either.
While I use my SIGG dixies or the newer MSR Alpine set mainly I have a soft spot for the traditional billy and often carry one when wood fires are allowed and safe
