TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Oookworks: Oooknest for Duomid Shelter

Wed 06 Feb, 2013 11:49 am

My Oooknest for my Mountain Laurel Designs Cuben DuoMid shelter arrived in the post, There is some interest in the Oookworks inner's.
My thoughts are it's well made, the proportions are excellent. Tie out points on the 4 corners could do with a little more strength. Make sure you don't tie these out to tight. I noticed when I first set it up that some of the stitching had come apart at the corners where the carbon struts are sewed onto at the point where the adjusters connect. I will get my sister to re-sew them for me. Not a major deal, but something to keep an eye out if you purchase one of these inners.
The Chikara PU floor is interesting. Very lightweight. I'm not convinced it will keep you dry in a puddle of water, will have to make sure I set this up on high ground where no water pools up. Time will tell if this is the case.

This inner was originally 160.00 pounds, but has recently had a price increase, I noticed it's now listed with the Chikara floor for 205.00 pounds. I purchased mine 2nd hand somewhere from Europe for $220.00 delivered to my door. A very good deal I thought. Love the color. reminds me of my Hilleberg tent.

A very well made inner shelter.

220cm long and 80cm wide, taking up a little more than half of the space inside the Duomid while still leaving a good sized covered porch area.

382grams including stuff sack.

Chikara PU - floor.

10g silnylon stuffsack

Impregnated, highly breathable 42gsm ripstop nylon

No-See-Um mesh panels for airflow and views.

Inverted T Zip as standard allowing the entire front to open up.

Corner struts & Lineloks for a perfect bathtub

Micro cord locks

YKK #3 Zips

Mesh pocket

Hey mate, im looking at getting a duomid myself and was just wondering why you went with the aftermarket inner instead of the mld inner? It's my first lightweight tent, I've read some good reviews, is it easy to set up?

Hi, I wanted a more inclosed inner for cooler weather. I prefer the bathtub style floor of the Oookworks as well as the inverted T door. I don't like the half doors that some manufactures add to there inners. I didn't like the images I seen of the MLD inner in regards to the flooring.

I am considering the MLD Bivy for my Duomid for a ultra-lightweight setup on a quick overnight hike.
