Camping around lake Nameless

Heading to Nameless end of next week (I'm excited!) for the first time.
We are keen to camp somewhere close to the water rather than in/around Ironstone Hut.
Are there any standout spots close to the water?
(I did search, and most references to camping have been in the vicinity of the hut itself).

There's not really much near Nameless itself, except a few small spots right next to the hut (as mentioned). The shore of the lake is quite scrubby and rocky - not all that appealing for camping. Over the back of Forty Lakes Peak, which is just behind the hut, there are a few (40 even!) lakes. One or two of those would be okay for camping near IN FINE WEATHER. Most of the sites up there are very windswept. If there's no-one home - or if the weather is unfavourable - staying in the hut is a great experience for 4-5 people. There's even a toilet!

The plateau offers lots of camping opportunities.
But our first was distributed amongst low bushes along the pad next to Lake Explorer
And the second was a nicer spot in the shelter of a ridge between Halkyard and Douglas.

There's no end of grassy space around Lakes Chambers, Douglas, etc, not far from Lake Nameless, as Eggs has said.

From memory, there was some moderately flattish area near a creak that trickles into Lake Nameless somewhat before the route heads away from the lake towards the hut. I can't remember for sure if it was enough for tents or not.

As others have said, most of the shore near the water at Lake Nameless is not really suitable for tents. It was all large rocks, and not much in the way of flat space.

Here's the spot I was thinking of (view from Ironstone Hut).

I think it was a bit wet (even during drier trips that this one), and rocky, but it's a large area, and there should be something in amongst it that would be OK.

I'd avoid sleeping in the hut unless you are immune to the effects of dust mites and mice dung. Last visited Feb 2012.
