TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

That one is on Amazon, been around for a couple of years apparently. Iv'e seen some mention on BPL and they have a similar rain jacket coming out.
Lots of the US stuff seems geared towards colder dryer weather but i'm trying to see how this would work here (in a system with other gear).
One comment that got my attention was that they have similar flotation to a pfd vest..

Part of a sleeping mat setup?.. kind of excludes wearing it to bed for side sleepers I guess.

I wonder abt the warmth with dry air inflation and the sizing.

Gore tried to introduce this in the late 90's, maybe early 2000's...not saying the idea is full of hot air, but I think claims are over inflated. The response last time was a bit flat.

Also there is a disposable emergency clothing system based on the same principle

Sounds to me that you are plucking those comments out of thin air.
Now I am wondering what the thermal resistance of thin air is.

I remember one of the gore reps showing me a similar system late 90s. They mainly introduced it to the down hill ski market and never heard any more of it. The theory is that you don't get convection movement in less than 10 or 13 mm of air. Bulk insulations are just forming voids to then be filled with air to insulate. You could use almost anything to create the voids and the air would still insulate. One of the problems with doing this inflation type thing is your shell needs to be airtight which can add weight eliminating the savings made by doing without down or primaloft etc.
