I would like 3 meters next time you have a roll.

THANKS!

Whilst you're talking about 'shipping' tyvek, it would make pretty good sails.

Rips far too easily. Hence Cuben.

Rips easily? Hmmm, not the stuff I have. Got any data on that? I'd give it a try on a very small floaty thingy. Not an ocean racing yacht.

Cuben was designed as a downwind sail (spinnaker) fabric, I think, not sure I'd use it for upwind sails, maybe suited to a broad reaching sail. Although i am a bit out of date with sailcloth technology. But whatever floats your boat I guess. Lol.

Just personal experience. But perhaps it was a bad lot.

I'd like 2.0m

Please PM me with price and availability.

This is my first post - I am a genuine bushwalker (have done the Cape to Cape several times), but don't believe in creating posts just to get my count up.

Would be great to have 2m if possible. I've been walking with a friend using Tyvek for several years and he has finally persuaded me - after trips around the SW Cape circuit and the Pelion Circuit - that I should get round to buying some! Please let me know if there is any other information you need. Best wishes, Graham

Hi guys. My name is Jared. I know I am new here, but I haven't come for the Tyvek. I have come because of my love for the outdoors. I have been a member of 'hammockforums.net' for quit while now and have been making and modifying my own gear for a while. I live in Adelaide, though currently am doing mission work in PNG, and have been looking for people/partners to hike/camp with in Ausy. Anyways I $6.50 per mtr? Well great to be part of this community. Hope to hear from some campers close to Adelaide, or anyone who is interested in camping. ;D Thanks guys.

Hi there,

I am interested in about 15m as I am wanting to make a winter tarp for my hammock and a weather sock too. So 15 would be ideal, cheers.

Please PM me for price and availability. Thanks guys for the great service, such a great idea. Thanks.

Does anyone know how this compares to the Tyvek sold by Tarptent?

Re: Tyvek by the metre for bushwalkers

I'd be interested in up to 4 mts dependent on width. What the heck 4 mts anyway.

Looks like I just missed out. If you do end up getting another roll I would be willing to take 5m off you!
Just got back from an Easter hike and we were a bit underprepared, had to use a garbage bag as a tent footprint and an emergency blanket as a ground sheet for sitting and eating etc.

There's a kite maker in the States who will sell lightweight Tyvek 1443R for $3 a metre (about 1.5m wide) plus about $25 postage;

http://intothewind.com/shop/Repair_and_Kitemaking.

This is about 2/3rds the weight of house wrap but is recommended by Ryan Jordan on his website www.ryanjordan.com . Ryan is the founder of Backpacking light magazine which for $25 a year subscription is highly recommended - great forum for tyvek projects too.

Tyvek house wrap is tougher and available in Australia visit this website and ask them about it http://www.insulation.com.au/products-1/tyvek-homewrap . www.Zpacks.com sell it without the horrible trade name printed all over it, but best to buy it from them when ordering something else, postage is about $30 or so.

BTW you can die it with synthetic clothing die from Spotlight if you aren't crazy about white! 3M Super 77 spray adhesive seems the easiest and preferred method of joining Tyvek. This is very strong, bonds stronger than the strength of the material itself but is not so strong if you load it such that it is required to keep the two parts peeling apart.

I dare you to get one of these, then wear it!
