"It can also absorb up to 900 times its own weight in oil and do so quickly, with one gram of aerogel able to absorb up to 68.8 grams of organics per second "

you go right ahead and try it when it comes out and let me know how it goes...

I read somewhere the clothing industry have actually been working out how to put it in clothing as an insulator. they were having technical issues with it, i dont recall there was much detail in what those issues were, perhaps it was something to do with oil?

it is being tested at present in some outdoor gear http://www.aerogel.com/markets/outdoor.html

it looks like its highly resistant to compression so it has limitations, despite being extremely light, its debateable how packable it is in clothing,

The guy who tested this on Everest overheated.

I'd say it has potential. ;)
