I had a quick update phone call yesterday. The weather has been snow, wind, rain, wind, ice, wind, snow...did I say wind? I didn't get much detail, although with no visitors he thinks he might break camp and return to Geelong this weekend. "I'm getting tired of my own company!"

I'm sure he will update you all with his tales once he's back.

That's a bit sad to see. I hope he still got some enjoyment out of it.
He certainly deserved some after all the effort he put into it.
It would have been quite a baptism of fire (ice?) for any newcomers to snow camping.
Thanks for keeping us updated Cecile.

Thats sad to hear Cecile. However given theres a significant load more snow headed his way from this weekend/early next week (or rain eeek fingers crossed no) I dont blame him. The weathers been all over the place down there. Hopefully he got some good turns on the fresh days. Falls itself is looking good.

Yeah, really sorry we couldn't make it.

It is just way too dangerous this weekend to get up through there with the storm coming through.

Hope he had a great trip even with the weather

Cecile, unfortunately my hubby's last minute work trip to Perth got in the way and I was so disappointed that we didn't make it last weekend (and really felt like we'd let him down) as I'd been gathering gear, food, etc. for our very first snowshoe trip and snow camp and especially looked forward to meeting Ted. He has been an absolute champ and inspiration at making such an effort to include others in his adventure and sharing all his knowledge and experience to help with our preparations. He even inspired me to visit Bogong Equipment to talk about getting some skiing equipment, which would certainly be the next step after snowshoeing. I hope, despite the weather and lack of visitors, that he has had some great skiing on the good days and brings home some good memories. You can let him know that the sausages are still in our freezer, my kids ate the white bread, and I've still got the surprise cherry ripes set aside for him.
Carpe diem!

He's home, safe and sound. Tired, but with 200+ photos, a little sunburn, and new whizz-bang ski boots. I'll let him tell his tales from here.
