I haven't climbed it but its only about an hours walk to the top.
There is an access road and its opened on one of the sundays each month.

Bailz66 are you thinking about Mt Elephant in Tassie.
There are quite a few road running up close to the top, but any from the north go through private property. Not sure from the South. Probably get up there from mt Elephant Road. I have never bothered trying to get to the summit. My knowledge is from fighting fires around the foothills.
If you want good views of the East Coast I would recommend Paddys Head or South Sister, both these would give better views than Mt Elephant. Both these have formed tracks. I live just under South Sister.

We just drove to the end of the road and walked in as much of a straight line as we could to the summit. Since the Scamander fires it's mostly open, but this was a few years ago. The scrub has probably grown a bit.
St Patricks head is a lovely short walk.

You might get even more responses if you post in the 'Tasmania' forum, rather than the 'TAS Trip Reports and Track Notes' forum. The latter is for reports, rather than for questions.

Or more responses still if you post in the Victoria section rather than the Tasmania section, where, yes, there is also a Mt Elephant...

Must be some boring walking in Vic if a 240m high pimple can make the list!

I think the original post was about the one in Tasmania. No idea why somebody replied about the one in Victoria, when it's posted to a Tasmania forum. Either way, people should pay attention to which forum they're creating topics in, and also which forum the topic is in when they're replying.

I only use the New Posts link so often don't see where things are posted

And that makes it not your fault for posting in wrong sections??

Not trying to give you a hard time, as a lot of people seem to do it... so just taking the opportunity to remind people in general...
Here's how this topic looks in the "New Posts" view...

Also, the forum title is always included at the top and bottom when actually reading the posts in the topic. Not all that obvious, though, so you've got to actually look for it.
