Noticed this interesting story (video) on ABC State to State .
It would be hard work using it on the Overland Track!
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-18/w ... lk/5032768"A walk in the wilderness is now possible for people with a mobility impairment. The ACT Government launches its all terrain wheelchair for hire. David Stratton took it for a spin".

Pretty cool.
I know sometimes at the end if a walk I feel I could do with one of these!

Great concept. I love David Stratton's upbeat attitude towards being helped to get out there despite the mobility issues. Some people struggle with the help part due to a fierce independence.
I'd like to see some other designs with an electric hub that one person can operate. Maybe two small wheels but on the one axis and similar rear controls. The technology is relatively cheap (think electric bikes) and the frame can made for very little by a fab shop.
A bit off topic, but I've had similar ideas for a two seat kite buggy for exploring long remote coastal stretches for those with mobility issues.
Thumbs up for all involved.

I was impressed by his upbeat attitude and the look of joy on his face as well.
