Neil, I think it reopened earlier this year? I walked it in July and I think it was a 15 km walk all up?

As someone who spent a lot of time up there about 15 years ago, it's certainly a strange feeling. A bit hard to explain, but it's obviously changed and it now seems a lot more developed? Running Creek Track is very road-like and the Masons Falls lookout has had some money spent on it. Just go to see the new bbq area up there. Very plush :) Lyrebirds to be seen though, so that's always a good thing! I'll write about it one day if I get a chance :)

Thanks Greg! I remember a ranger telling me that it would reopen this year, but I haven't been out there myself since January and hadn't heard anything. I saw the upgraded Masons Falls lookout in Jan - very plush indeed! "Very road-like" doesn't sound too crash hot. :( I used to love that hike! Will have to get out there and check it out again soon. From now until May I might not have time to hike anywhere except the GOR!

Thanks for that info Out Walking. Last time I was in Kinglake that area was closed so I might try and get up there within the next few weeks.

Walking from Warburton to Mt Donna Buang's summit is steep going uphill in some sections but it is only about 7 kms one way.
