Moraine E western Arthur's

Hi all. We're planning a short Western Arthur's trip to Oberon. Wed like to come down Moraine E if possible but uncertain if it's a passable or findable route. Any experience? Cheers.

There was an old route down Moraine E, but I think it is pretty much gone and discouraged now.
There have been one or two posts discussing it already.

We enjoyed the trip into Oberon and then back out again by Moraine A.
Twice the enjoyment - bright and sunny on the way in, and the mandatory driving rain on the way out.
A great experience.

We met a couple who had come down Morraine E a couple of weeks ago, they were not impressed. Also a bloke who had left Oberon at the same time as them had beaten them to Junction Creek.

Based on my experiences, the time taken to get down E would vary considerably, not just due to weather but due to group experience at picking decent lines through scrub.

Parks would rather you didn't, and going that way is unlikely to save much time.
I speak from experience that the track to A morraine is much easier to find when the wind gets really bad.

On a slightly related note - there was a Canadian pair who were planning a quick trip to lake Oberon like you, except they were trying to do it as an overnighter, leaving the car park at 11am. Does anyone know if they made it? They left around the 28th of Jan.

I strongly advise you to return via Moraine A, its simply much quicker these days. The old route down Moraine E is very slow and now quite hard to follow.
