Northern end of Mt Olympus Looking down to Narcissus River inlet.

C'mon Norts, you're not going to wait for the answer to see if you're right are you?
I had never noticed that lake over the back there... Interesting.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 1:59 pm
OK I'll keep it going. This was taken on Friday.

My first thought is it looks like you're heading towards Hells Gates from near wild dog creek, but I'd have to cross reference my photos to be sure.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 2:27 pm
Looks like I've got to go find a picture...

Sure looks like you had a nice time, though cold...
My first winter walk with some mates was to the walls but ended up camping somewhere between Solomons Jewels and Wild Dog Creek, couldn't get any further due to the snow, and spent 2 nights there (any wonder it looked familiar).
We had another half metre or so of snow dump on us while we were there.
Assuming I'm close enough, here's one from me.
Taken from the Olympus P&S a long time ago. This place is very easily accessible.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 2:51 pm
You were close enough. I would still be there but for a very sore foot. Had to limp out from Wild dog. Took me 5 hour.
Didnt get past the tent platforms.

Crikey, what happened to your foot?
That would not be fun, particularly the downhill from Trappers Hut.
At least the ground was soft ??
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 3:02 pm
Strained the joints in my foot, the doc thinks. Got to have xrays tomorrow. I just walked very slowly and made sure my foot was well planted with each step.

I'd better chuck in a clue, this place is not so far from the last image relatively speaking, and there's something similar in the name.

Sees clue and looks at Google Maps (The LIST seems to have its search facility down at the moment)
Thinks - this road is high up - must be near Lake MacKenzie road
Notices Snake Creek Road - and says hmmm... interesting
Switches to Google Satellite view and sees lots of forestry activities nearby - then remembers the note to the picture
that this was taken "a long time ago"
So is it from Snake Creek Road looking south - probably close to the Fisher Road junction?
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 5:23 pm
You do need to walk to this location, though it is very easy to get to.
So as for standing on the road, I would have to say no.
As for those road names, I cannot locate a map that actually names them - what do you recommend?
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 5:34 pm
OK I looked up those names and you are close. But not close enough. I need the name of my location. Where I'm standing.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 6:08 pm
You are standing at the Devils Gullet lookout.

Correct, see the photo on the bottom of
this link. From Hells Gates to the Devils Gullet. What next??
Your go.
EDIT That was silly comment... Herrods Gate not Hells Gate.

And here is the rest of the vista.

Panos are getting harder to find. Try this one.
Where am I #137
Edit: Just straighten that horizon

Looking north from Mount Oakleigh?
If correct I will pass my turn on to anyone else who wishes to submit an image.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 7:01 pm
Not Mount Oakleigh
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 7:12 pm
Yeah just realized the angle is all wrong for Oakleigh. It's from Roland as far as I can tell.
Once again, if correct I will pass my turn on to whomever wishes to submit an image.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 7:18 pm
Yes Bushrunner, Mt Claude from Mt Roland. Since bushrunner has forfeited, who would like to post a picture?
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 7:55 pm

A clue may be required - from a planetary position, the distance between will lead you to a red-headed monarchs robe!

Another clue - looking back at the planetary position from the beach of an unspecified distance

You may have to be very patient stepbystep
We took all day to do 1 photo on Sat.
There have been a few today - but it is often quiet on a Sunday night.
Incidentally - I have no idea - although tasadam may like your clues.
Sun 05 Jul, 2009 10:06 pm
Oh, I can be patient, I've waited this long to post a pic
I'm logging off, but a final clue, it's on an island
