cable ties

Wed 16 Apr, 2014 6:23 am

Saw this coming back down from the top of Mt Gundabooka, just off the track. I'd missed it going up. Some type of stretcher. Maybe a seat for someone with a sprained ankle? The arrangement of the cross-members is not ideal though. And puzzling that it was abandoned half-way down.
Anyways, I noticed the cable ties, and now always carry a few. Not much weight, but potentially very useful.

Only one cable tie. What's the tape material?

Cable ties and duct tape have repaired a boot on Mt Solitary, saving a very uncomfortable walk out. Never walk without them.

Yeah, I always had a few of various sizes with me, although they went missing in the move so I haven't had them down here. Could have done with them on Clumner when that sole started coming off. Must but some more and remember to pack them.

The white material was crepe bandage, so I guess they were prepared.

Might it have been a sled for a very uncomfortable or broken pack?

Cable ties have joined in with duct tape and fencing wire as the items which make up all field repair capacity in the world. If they can't fix it, you need a new one.
