Well, it looks like it could be somewhere off the Mersey Forest Rd, but I don't think it is. A total guess based on the hint as I've only seen each end of it - Cuvier Valley Track. If I'm correct won't be able to check in again until around lunchtime Monday.

Your first guess was closer than your second. Ie, off the Mersey Forest Road is correct. However, we now need to get a bit more specific than that. Which track?

TWO MORE BIG HINTS:
1. In my few entries to this game, I've used one other photo from the same walk before.
2. If you search my posts to see what walks I've done from tracks that start on the Mersey Forest Road, it's fairly easy to find.

I found one entry from Meston North. This new photo doesn't look like anywhere on the Lake Myrtle Track as I've done that (well exited that way at least). But I believe there is a more obscure track on Jacksons Creek that joins it so I'm going to say it's that.

Yes, John, you've got it. It's the line of cliffs just north of Lake Myrtle, taken from the old Jackson Creek track (which doesn't officially exist any more). You're turn, John.
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 5:02 pm
Thanks Nik. Hope this one's not too obscure. Might be easy for some.

I was going to say nearing Lake Bill because of all that Buttongrass and the inability to define the summit. But reconnaissance through other photos suggests not.
So how about from Lees Paddocks?
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 7:42 pm
Actually, more reconnaissance - how about Lees Hut?
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 7:54 pm
I'd accept either answer Tasadam

. Yes it's Lees Paddocks from near Lees Hut. We had some interesting weather that day which obscured the peaks at times. I also noticed the similarity with the view across Blizzard Plain to Mt Rogoona in another photo, which is partly why I chose this one. I've been to both places and don't remember the views in real life being so much alike. Maybe it's the rainbows

.
Over to you.

It's a wonder I can remember the view...

OK so to find an image...
Be right back!
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 8:32 pm
Righto then...
I was going to put
this one up with a few clues, but I figured that would be cruel...
The main clue is it is from a road - the name of the road would do.
Since I had it ready you are welcome to have a go for the bonus point.
So instead I will opt for one from a location that has already had an image from in the game a while back. Can't remember who posted it.
It's a pretty familiar ridge to many I would suspect.

Having a wild guess going from memory as I don't have any photos of it myself.
Is it the Bowling Green area from the Overland Track north of Narcissus?
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:08 pm
Sorry John. I suppose you're a bit close - you're a fair bit under 80 km away. I chose "under 80", but could have chosen many numbers so don't read too much into "80".

The back part of Mt Oakleigh from the Arm River track?
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:11 pm
Any takers for that other image I
linked?
The Arm River track is pretty long... but that'll do.
I am at Lake Ayr, eastern end. Your go Norts.

Stab in the dark, between Lakes Meston and Myrtle?
No, that can't be right - the sun wouldn't be there...
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:25 pm
Right general area.
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:30 pm
ah, I was thinking it looked familiar, but couldn't pick it. Then tasadam got me thinking...
It's not further up the Jackson Creek track from my previous photo? Ie, up on the plateau, before lake Myrtle.
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:40 pm
Over to you Nik
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:42 pm
Yes, of course it is... Near the stumps to the old hut. Oh well.
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 9:56 pm
Can't believe I didn't pick it when I first saw it. That point is etched in my mind because the track sort of faded out not long after that and we had to find our own way to Lake Myrtle from just after there on.
OK, so here's the next photo. There's not a lot of features in the picture, apart from my lovely wife and eldest daughter (she's the one who's asleep in the straight jacket), who of course are wonderful features (you never know she might read this one day), but I think it's a fairly distinctive spot, and I know plenty of people on the forums have been there.

...more information. You're correct, but it's a very particular location, which I will need precisely.
Mon 20 Jul, 2009 10:25 pm
Come on Nik, you've posted that photo from the falls before!
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5Why does Corvus call me an elephant? Not for my size, that's for sure!
EDIT
Actually, you said you wanted it precisely.
I think I found the puddle on the rock that your baby left...

And another couple from Oxley Falls -
Upstream

Downstream

Yep, of course that's the spot. Your go, Adam.

Is it from Cathedral Mtn, looking at the Ducane Range?
I've only been up there once, and it was a very long time ago (and I don't have any photos handy), so it's a bit of a guess.
Tue 21 Jul, 2009 11:54 am
Sorry, not from Cathedral Mountain. Not from Twin Spires or Bishops Peak or Deans Bluff or Mt Pillinger either.
Did I miss any on that ridge? Well, it's not from them...
Does anyone need hints? Just ask. Better hurry, before eggs gets back
Tue 21 Jul, 2009 11:57 am
actually, my guess doesn't make so much sense in hind sight. Cathedral is much closer to the Ducane Range than this, I think.
Yes, a hint please!
