Nope
In fact I haven't even heard about Mt Dromodary before, but it's certainly not there. Well I thought the first person guessing would know where it is.

Samh - A valley with fog, has to be Launceston. But wait, I also see trees so that eliminates Launceston...
In other words, no idea.

Scavenger - Oh yeah a Tarn. I know that tarn (from the hundreds and thousands of other tarns) Not...

I'm out (and bored, obviously).

OK well how's this.
Judging by the hills all around, I would say we're looking more at a lake than a river.
And judging by the size of the trees in the immediate foreground I would say the image was taken with a fair bit of zoom.
It looks green enough to be west like Rosebery area or something but the atmosphere to this image suggests more Huon area.
So if it is a river rather than a lake, it could perhaps be the Huon river.
Not having been there, a stab in the dark, are you on the Tahune Airwalk?

this one is tricky sam

We can see a relatively narrow lake under the fog with steep forested mountains.
In my thinking, that places me somewhere up along the Mersey / Forth chain of hydro lakes.
The lack of mountains past the end of the lake makes me think I am looking North.

Possibly above Lake Cethana?

Lake Pedder.
Though I don't really know where from, I don't recognise the angle.

I think a wider angle shot would help. There is nothing there that is readily identifiable - unless you have been to that spot and can pick it, it's pretty tough.
Mu previous guess was based solely on your clue.

A "bit" more wide-angle !!

Was I ever in the wrong part of the world.
I didn't think Lake St Clair could look that thin.

So I can see Lake St Clair, Mt Olympus and assuming Mt Ida.
I was right about the zoom...
Tricky to work out exactly where you are though. Definitely someone will work it out with this image.

No - I just thought someone else would jump in.

It is from the Acropolis - with Gould plateau on your right.
But it is not from the top.
I cannot remember a clear view early on the plateau and yet above the trees, but google maps/satellite shows a track deviating from the main climb onto the open southern ridge - probably to the base of the cliffs there.
Is that where you were?

eggs your right it's on the way up to the Acropolis, over to you.
We went up there when we did the OLT in June but sadly it was very cloudy at the summit, so we went back and walked to Narcissus hut, that was a long day.

I don't have a lot of time at the moment but if someone wanted some clues, I reckon this is a great photo of Mt Pillinger, with what is likely to be Deans Bluff or Bishops Peak in the centre (I always get the order mixed up what is on the end from Cathedral then Twin Spires). (Or isn't there another peak on the end, possibly starting with a P?)
So with a map and some angles, someone might like to join the game and have a guess.
That would be Cradle Mtn in the background, you can see the shadow of Mt Emmett in front of it. The dome of Mt Campbell directly behind Pillinger.
Great photo eggs.

Definitely Pillinger as you said tasadam, don't have the ability to get on Google Earth at the moment though or LIST to check the location/track that the photo is taken from. One of my favourite walks/views actually, up to Pillinger that is :)

I think the peak, starting with P that Tasadam can't think of is Premier Peak and that looks about right to me.

Ok - we have named all the peaks (though not the lake), so where was the photo taken from?

No tricks on this one - the answer is a standard mountain peak name.

If it is taken with zoom, could it be Chapter Lake and the photo taken from Mt Rogoona?

Thanks eggs, I've been enjoying just watching the game for a while now and when no-one came in after Tasadam's clues, I couldn't resist! OK, see how we go with this one.

Great photo jose.
Looks like it could be from on or near Proteus?
I was at Thetis / Achilles / Perrins Bluff / Pelion West over easter this year (fantastic trip!);
the original plan was to also go to Proteus, but time got away from us a little.

stubowling - Well you learn lots from this game - I had never heard of Proteus.

Checking The List shows a deep valley immediately between Proteus and Pelion West.
That suggests Proteus would be the hilll on the right of the photo, in front of Perrins Bluff.

This view looks more like a zoom photo from around the Barn Bluff mark - but a bit to the west to avoid Lake Will.

eggs - Proteus another of those fairly un-spectacular hills (un-named on the 1:25k maps).
It is an Abel however & also on the HWC peakbaggers list; tho not oft summited I'd imagine.
just having a stab really to alleviate afternoon boredom here at work

That was a curious thing about The List.
Searching for "Proteus" brings up a map with a peak in the centre - but it is not named.
So The List can find places that are not named in the 1:25k series - and then display them in that series. Neat..

I suspect there are some who are reluctant to contribute
because they think that they need to let others get into it.

My thinking is that you hang back a bit, but still contribute after
A while in order to keep the game alive.
Others still get a chance to contribute as we can see with a few first
Time players of late.
So that was the sales pitch - we now return to your regular program.

I think it could be from Mt Inglis

Yes, you have got it eggs. I think you are right about people holding back and that was what prompted me to join in. With no one else putting in for a while I just had to have a go!!. I am still pretty new and wasn't sure that I could manage to post a photo and be there to keep track of responses but I'm happy that I managed OK. Your turn.
