I don't know where that is Eggs but when someone identifies it I am going there. Beautiful.

Its an area my daughter loved.
We took her on some real walks, but she was a bit put off with the hard work.
This spot would be her main reason for coming back to Tasmania.

Well, that's a pretty big inlet there to the south. So I would guess it would be just to the north of the St Helens barway. Here.

Yep - tasadam - that would be exactly right.

I would have accepted 3 different names for it - like Humbug Point (the overall area), Dora Point (the road & camping area nearby) or Granite Rock Point - which is the spot right next to the channel.

The "area" of course is St Helens/Georges Bay and the Bay of Fires to its north - on the north east coast of Tasmania.
Very good for kids that like great beaches and granite rock scrambling.

Your turn.

Did I make it too hard?
There's a lot of zoom used, and the mountain in the background is quite well known.
Want any other pics of eagles from this spot with maybe a bit more background?

Its a very nice picture of Cradle - I think the comp may be quiet tonight.
It may pick up more response tomorrow.

Is it Mt Anne taken from the Old Bomadier Track. (Edit)Oops, I didn't see your clue so I guess it isn't!

No, Eggs is right in that it is Cradle Mtn, so it is not Mt Anne. And there is the name to a track I have never heard before - do tell more!

From this location, I have often seen eagles, and I have heard there have been a pair nesting in this area for years.

I have probably spelt Bomadier track incorrectly but I was thinking of the track from near Gelignite Creek to Lake Timk (now overgrown) but which forks off with reasonable track to Pandani Shelf.
Now I'm guessing your picture could have been taken from the northern base of Mt Emmett.

I really dont know I'm not a Tasmanian anyway and only live here for two years. So my guess would be Mt Campbell

Its amazing, but Dave Noble's fantastic new photos from the overland track has a shot from Pelion East which almost lines up exactly with this view.
He just posted the link tonight.

Only thing is that Pelion East is probably too high - but you would get a good look at the other possibilities in between if you check it out.

SO eggs you reckon it's from MT Oakleigh, now that I had a look at those photos I would agree on that.

OK Sam, your go. Oakleigh it is. The Parks people were telling me about the eagles nesting there for some years, and we have often seen them.

Ok, here you go. But I'll go to bed now. How I would love to be somewhere out there in the bush now sleeping in a tent. I already suggested my wife to put up the tent in the sleeping room just for the "outdoor" feeling

You definitely have a high view of the skill of the players sam.
Another photo with little to fix on [ I normally like to click on the photo to get a more detailed image].

Apart from the immediate dolerite rock and pncil pine / eucalypt mix - I can "see" 2 other landmarks.
A rather non-descript peak next to the rainbow - possibly down the same ridge you are on.
And a distant cloud capped range on the left.

My initial thoughts range from Central Plateau - perhaps near the Lake St Clair area - or the King William Range
But without a more detailed picture - its all a bit fuzzy to get any further.

Agreed, it would be nice to zoom in a bit and have a better look.
I was thinking it might be near Lake Chalice but don't know exactly where.

Ok, Ok :D To give you a better chance, hopefully, here another shot from the same place. I climbed on a tree and zoomed in a bit on that mountain in the background. Another hint eggs you are wrong

I'm not really sure, but I'll throw this one out there... are you looking off the Central Plateau somewhere across to Quamby Bluff? :?

sam - you are certainly mischievous.
First you put up a photo with such poor definition - I did actually wonder about Rogoona, but thought it was too hard to tell.
So for a clue - you throw up a pitch black outline so the 2 ridges along the top cannot be seen !

Could it be from Mt Pillinger looking over to Mt Pelion East?

Pillinger - or along the plateau to its east could be correct - but the lump is more likely Mt Rogoona.

I assume you are saying Phil is not correct with Mt Pillinger?

That would mean you are on the Cathedral range - somewhere near Bishop Peak - though down from it towards Chalice Lake on a flatter part of the plateau.

thats right we had planned to make it to catherdral mountain but sort of lost track and camoed the night at tent tarn. What a funny name for this tarn, as it is hard to find a nice campside.
Over to eggs then,

A bit misleading sam :o
Tent Tarn appears to be below Twin Spires - and that area was not in my photo?

Time for another easy one
