That image has got the WOW factor. That's fantastic light and a vibrant green on the hillside.
Well done with that.

Gorgeous shot samh.
Reminds me of Deception Ridge on the way up to Mt Eliza, with SPR in the background?
Sat 01 Aug, 2009 5:25 pm

Seems I only guess 'em when I can't post a shot

In the process of killing my computer with all my pics on
Anyone else is welcome to post a shot.

Well, that Black Bluff one is probably the only one from the whole 2 threads that I actually did know where was.
So I will put up this one, I think it should be alright. Hope it is not too dark

I guess Saturday Night - everyone is out hiking or going to the movies
There have been a few difficult posts over time - but this is another ripper!!
Cloud is cutting off the skyline - so that is the major clue provider gone.
You are at elevation - but looking over a relatively large flat area dominated by forest and button grass plains.
Absence of any lakes makes me think it must be somewhere on the west Coast or in the South West.
Can't blow the picture up to drill down on features, but it appears no tracks are in view.
This one is tough.

this is an absolute guess but maybe looking east from somewhere on the track up moraine A?

The Omelette is on the right track with everything.
And because I don't go to many interesting places, it is not far away from anything. Also, I didn't know how to get rid of the exif data, so you could probably find out by using that, but that would be no fun!

How about from the Western Explorer between Corinna and Balfour?
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 1:59 am
While you're waiting to find out which hump Mr Camel is on, here are a couple of links to some software to help with your images:
JStrip by David Crowell - Getting rid of EXIF info - free (Windows only).
Faststone Photo resizer - Resize, change format, add watermark, and even basic framing. I love this Windows tool it is much, much more that just a resizer. Quick batch processing of whole directories of files - Free for personal use (Windows only).
Dynamic Photo HDR - Combine multiple exposures into one HDR - available for Windows or MAC (free trial but costs $55) - supports RAW formats - and the Online Manual.
Photomatix for Windows, or MAC - A second HDR tool for Windows and MAC, (pro versions $99) - and the tutorial. Read an alternative online tutorial or you can download the 10MB PDF.
Qtpsfgui - A third Multi-platform HDR (Linux, Mac and WIndows) - free = GPL, supports RAW formats - I've not used it, but it is suppose to be very good.
Hugin 0.8.0 - Stitched Panorama Software (avialable for MAC, Windows and Linux) - and the Hugin Wiki.
GIMP for windows, or MAC or Linux - Free image manipulation software - and the GIMP Tutorials.
Sure there are other apps that do the same thing, but the above are a very good start.

I'll go a bit more specific but on the same track as TasAdam...
Are you on the Longback? I'm wondering if you are looking north east into the relatively featureless expanses north of the SRM.
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 4:16 pm
On the right track again. But no.
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 4:40 pm
Crikey. So it's the Western Explorer and I have no other idea where from, without a landmark.
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 9:12 pm
Not sure if it is the Western Explorer tasadam
It could be one of the numerous forestry roads that seem to spray out all over that area.
Mr Camel - could you be a little more specific with your answers.
Is it no to Longback? or no to Western Explorer?
thanks

On the track to Mt. Hazelton.
Sun 02 Aug, 2009 9:46 pm
Impressive walkinTas
You can see the distinctive fingers of forest pattern next to that track in Google satellite - a great match.

A little spot of Forum mining Eggs. He didn't make it to the top, so its on the early slopes somewhere.

Yes! On GE the hill on the other side of Waratah Crk is a perfect match.

Edit: I won't be around on Monday, so once MrCamel is happy, someone else can post the next image.
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 7:38 am
It is on the first bump of the way to Mt Hazelton.
I had about 3 minutes of great view that day, and then when I pulled the camera out the cloud and rains came in
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 8:15 am
First to come along now gets to post a photo. Anyone?
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 8:50 am
OK Adam, I'll start things rolling for the week...
Plenty of clues in the photo itself so shouldn't be too hard.
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:12 am
Are you somewhere along the top of the Sentinels?
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:15 am
Sorry dee, right half (lower) of the state, but quite a ways off...
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:29 am

Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:38 am
Spot on scrub boy, taken from the summit of Mt. Riveaux.
The views east are not so inspiring...
Over to you scrub boy...
Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:42 am

Mon 03 Aug, 2009 9:43 am
