Hi all
Can anyone give me some info the best place to start the ascent of Walled Mountain coming up from Pine Valley?
Also approximate timings to the summit ?
Maybe PM me if you consider it off track so we stay within forum rules.

I mentioned that part in the report:
http://bushwalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=12896&p=170415&sid=8996157c88afd6e03cd095f57f8cbbcb#p170367The track is pretty clear once you get to the small gap between the two small tarns at the start of the climb - north of Eurynome.
Before that we had picked up a light pad marked with the odd cairn that went over the top of the hill from the west end of Elysia and came back the same way.
However we met someone in that area who had tried to pick up what they said was an old track from the same place that skirted the hill to the north instead of going over the tops.
They turned back as they now found it too hard to find. I believe they were heading back to the west end of Ophion where they said there was a more obvious track, but we had no need to check that out.

The track is well documented in both "The Abels"and Chapmans "Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park "guide books,it is many years since I did it but from memory was easy to pick up, you head to The Labyrinth and pick up a cairned track at Lake Ophion.
Hope this helps.

Thanks guys
Any guesses on timings from the junction you have mentioned?
We're headed up next weekend, fingers crossed for the weather.

The track junction at Ophion is obvious, although the route around the side of the lake looked pretty muddy. Actually, it was more water than dirt or rock. From Elysia there are pads to the two small tarns where you hit the track, but they can be a bit faint at times. If you're not camping at Elysia, just keep to the left when you reach the junction at Ophion.

2-3 hour return from the junction depending how many photos you take!

I believe camping at Elysia is being discouraged now (pity) owing to its low " Tent footprint availability "and the toileting proximity to this water supply, could be wrong though might add that it was also" Ant Heaven" 20 years ago and suspect it has not change since .

You can camp in a spot sheltered from the SW 10-15 mins below Walled summit. It's right next to the track.
