Hi all,
What are the facilities for camping around Narcissus Hut like? Are their platforms or are tent sites on the ground? Is it usually pretty busy during peak times? Anyone have any pictures?

There are no actual platforms, however camping is fair.
I think the main site is part way between the hut and jetty (there is a duck-board t-junction along there somewhere)
There is also a nice spot about 5 min up the track (north) from the hut, just before Narcissus river bends away.
If the lake is on the low-side, you could find a camping place along the shore somewhere south of the jetty also (but this would be a fair jaunt to the loo...)
Cheers
Mark

I haven't been there for a while, but I landed up pitching the tent as the hut was full of noisy people and by all reports the next day, nobody got any worthwhile sleep.
As I remember, there's a few reasonable camping spots near the hut. No platforms.

Good stuff guys- ta! I'm looking for a place to take my daughter for a first "away from the car" camping experience, prior to Lees Paddocks. Sounds like this could be a winner.

Just for interest, here is a link to the Kosciusko Huts Association website page for the "Narcissus Hut"

We camped in that vicinity when we walked the OLT about 18 months ago. Very pleasant sheltered, grassy flat area with good views. Although I'm still unsure about whether it's actually OK to camp there. We asked other walkers camped there at the time and they said yes it's fine. Might be worth confirming with PWS though. The "official" sites seemed to be mostly on hard earth near the hut.
Oh, and I agree it's a long walk to the loo, maybe 5 minutes, but boardwalk most of the way.

Hi Norts, Yep that's exactly the spot where we camped. That's not how we pitched the tent by the way. We were packing up and I moved it out into the sun to dry off a bit of condensation. Lovely spot with great views. A few mossies and flies but not too bad.
