Ragged Jack

If you are planning on climbing this shapely mountain, you may be interested to know that the gps route and 1:25,000 maps don't quite match. We went what we thought was about the right distance (8.6 kms) along the first turn on the right, as directed by the Abels book; ignored the first turn to the left at around this distance (it has a red arrow on white), deciding it was still too short, and took the next road. The contours matched what we wanted and the path at the end took us where we wanted it to, but the map 1:25,000 on my gps said we should have taken the next road. You can see our route if you look up my blog: natureloverswalks.blogspot.com

Great pics on your trip report.

The western summit is also worth a look, and is about the same difficulty as the eastern summit (depending on which path you take).

Yes, I was eyeing it up, but time prevented an exploration this time. Definitely something to keep in mind; thanks.
