Spot on Eggs. Its taken just below the summit of Forty Lakes Peak looking northwest over Snake and Explorer lakes with Mt Roland just above the horizon as you desribe. I wasn't sure of the feature/bluff on the lefts name.

cheers

Well I'm guessing it must be Western Arthurs, but where exactly I wonder? (the Western Arthurs are slowly climbing the priority list for walks to do :D )

..........is that Mt Anne in the distance? (middle foreground)

Hmm - yes a visit would be a good idea.
A mind blowing place. If you are not too distacted by phone calls

Right range - but not Mt Anne in the distance.

okay; after a look on google earth and then cross-referencing with 'the list', are you along the 'Beggary Bumps' overlooking Lake Ganymede with Dorado Peak being the first peak in the foreground? (I don't have a name for the exact point that you're on :? )

That will be Dorado Peak, but we were not on the Beggary Bumps.

This spot has a clear name.

Mt Scorpio is the prominant little bump on the left most skyline ridge.
You should be able to alter your viewing direction from that bit of info.

So it turns out that I was looking at Dorado Peak from the wrong direction

So I guess Mount Pegasus?

Or do I have to guess again?!

ha ha......only reason I got that was because there was no one else having a go!

I'm soaking this all in and have learnt heaps for the game though; thanks to everyone who's kept it rolling :D

Let's see how we go with this one.

No. I'm actually wondering who the good looking blokes are. Particularly the one with the legs . . .

Sorry norts - I have been delegated to answer for Phil and I should have been checking.

You are correct - and that means you are up.

The official word from Phil was:
The photo was taken walking along the Cradle Mountain Cirque; under the clouds on the left hand side of the photo is Barns Bluff. We were prob only 15 minutes or so past Kitchen Hut.

scavenger - he is quite a tough one - probably could have carried me up the mountain as well as his pack. :)

I'm acting as proxy for norts on this one and you're exceptionally close, Nick. Right mountain but wrong lake. However, you're so close that I think you can have it anyway. Want to take one last guess at the lake before you post your shot?

I know what you mean by running out of photos - but scanning back through your entries - they have been from all over the place.
And this one is a cracker of a photo.

Not a reason to stop playing! I think more than a few players will have to invite others to post pictures. Great picture Nick S.

Trying to get up the Acropolis and looking towards the DuCane Gap with Falling Mountain on the left and part of the Traveller Range on the right. Nice conditions.

Hope you can wait if I'm right as I will be off shortly and won't be back until this afternoon.

I reckon you are right norts.

You can see the WOJ peaking out in the right rear, and the view of Mt Spurling with the lake at its base is great.
In the back of my mind is a visit to the Traveller Range and Mt Spurling - but this almost makes one think you should include Mt Ida in the itinery.
Love the styles - 1979 - wow. It was 1979/80 when I got to Tasmania for the first time.

Yes, it is Mt Ida. I'm impressed with your analysis. Went along the Traveller Range from the (Lake) St Clair dam.
