Wildness

Postby eucalypt » Wed 01 Apr, 2015 8:23 pm

Hi guys
I'm interested in what people would describe as the most wild and remote places in mainland tasmania.

Have you been to this place or area, or seen it from afar. And how did you get somewhere so remote.

Not looking for directions or trip plans just interested in people's thoughts gathered from past experiences in beautiful tasmania.

What was that ridge halfway between PB and Fedders called?

I think the scrub makes that so much more remote than the distance would make it seem.
Men wanted for hazardous journey. Low wages, bitter cold, long hours of complete darkness. Safe return doubtful.

I was looking for a day walk away from the crowds over Easter and found it at Ben Nevis.
Most of you would not consider this wildness, but there was no-one apart from our family up there all day and we we well away from the usual Easter traffic getting there. And the views from the top are awesome in all directions (on a clear day).

The track is very overgrown, so it looks as though not many people go there. It has been described as one of the most isolated day walk areas within an easy drive from Launceston.

Really ?? not what you said here.

RichB wrote:Oh come on Australia has one of the most corrupt govt in the western world, havent you noticed?...As for PWS just go and have a look at Rocky Cape national Park especially the western end...Most of it is a blackened, burnt landscape and why..There is a small settlement there, so have they caused all this damage to the landscape and incinerated countless wildlife that cant escape, just to protect this small settlement of huts?...Why the hell do they allow humans to live and build houses in national Parks anyway, its pathetic. Why would tourists want to visit a national park in Tassie that is just totally burnt..My opinion of the Australian/Tasmanian Govt is that they are amongst the worst in the western world when it comes to the environment and wildlife and are probably on par with most 3rd world Govts...

Just asking.

Part of the paradise bit comes from the fact there are hardly any humans there ever..not many places on earth left like that..

Maxwell River, New River gorge, Spiro Range and the area SW of the Gordon Splits are a few spots that come to mind (never been to any of them but it's nice to know they're there)
