I use the iPhone app Pocket Weather to watch Cradle Valley.

Not sure what Steve expects. The most comprehensive data are from the department of meteorology. Pocket Weather app etc just DL that data and repackage for smartphone presentation. Looks nice and convenient, but the same dataset. I use the same. Vague, maybe it is less predictable.

This is the best site: BOM, Meteye:

Thanks for that folks, that is a big help, I am off down that way next week so just watching what’s coming through, suffice to say I expect very cold and wet and will be happy with anything better.

Yeah, just bom/meteye for a general forecast. You've also got New Pelion Hut and Lake St Clair/Butlers Gorge data points available further along the track.
Generally WFV records a few degrees warmer than the CM forecast, NP similar, LSC warmer again and usually drier (in relative terms

)

If you want to climb the surrounding hills it might pay to have a look at MountainForecast:
I use it a lot and find that it's better than the BoM for higher elevations as they correct for elevation and prominence.
