I see you went with the theme from the last one and simply planted yourself a lot closer to the WOJ.
There are a couple of lakes in the Chinaman's Plains, but I suspect you are next to Lake Toorah.

Yes, Eggs, you're right. Lake Toorah it is.

From at or near the summit of Hansons Peak - overlooking Lake Hanson & Mt Campbell (on a beautiful day too!).

stubowling

too easy - huh.
Yes - I have been in that vicinity about 4 times with good weather on 3 of those times - once with the fagus in full autumnal display.
PS - I might add - this was a fantastic day walk with the 2 youngest kids (but the youngest was 14) - we went over Hansons, lunched at the Twisted Lakes, did the Face Track with a brief excursion into the saddle between Weindorfers and the Little Horn and returned via Marion's Lookout. Briilliant day out. Would have liked to go all the way up the Little Horn, but was not confident of where the track was going. Maybe another day.

Your turn

Thanks eggs.
I also love that high level traverse around the lake, a classic day walk.
My first time up the Little Horn I went up steep gullies followed by a series of exposed ledges up the western side, only to find a perfectly good track down the eastern side. One of those great little 'pop-top' summits that we all love.
This one should be a little different...

No takers yet.
This one has got me very puzzled stubowling.

I believe I am looking at the Spires with Rocky High Innes on the RHS ridge and the prominant peak on the left might be North Star??
That places me at - duh...!
Doesn't look like Mt Hobhouse, but I have trouble placing it from Darkes Peak or the ridge down to Wylds Craig. The Gordon River seems to be missing, as do the Battlement Hills.
Unless this is a telephot shot over the top of the Gordon River through Denison Gap from {not Wylds Craig} Darkes Peak, with Battlement Hills just out of view to the right?

Edit - still doesn't add up. Could it be from the exit off the Denison Range - when heading to the plains north of the North Star?
[You're just salivating ready for the big trip you have planned.]

Yes, I look at this picture often eggs, dreaming of next February & escaping work :D
You are close enough, it is taken from just north of Reeds Peak on the way to Bonds Craig looking west (ie. on the Denison Range).
The closest peak in the middle foreground is North Star, with Curly, Spires, POW's, Innes High Rocky etc. all in the distance.
This view really excited me when I was there (I love seeing remote Tasmania) & has served as inspiration for these bigger, remote treks.
Over to you again :D

I really didn't get that one sorted. I had completely misread which peak was North Star.
The high one to the left is the unnamed peak where swifty took one of his earlier entries from (24/6)
Makes a lot more sense when I can identify them properly.

Anyway - next one

Not Lady Lake but when choosing a photo to post this time it was a toss up between this one and a photo of ice on Lady Lake taken on the same trip. :)

PS. Yes it is Mt Ironstone in the background.

Total guess as I haven't been there (yet). Is it Lake Ironstone? (which appears to be the closest lake to it of any size).

I need eggs' facility with angles and maps. Can't even be certain which direction you're facing, though I'd guess you're roughly southwest of Ironstone?

I didn't think it was going to be that hard. Scavenger was just a few short metres off, but tastrax has it. Lucy Long it is.

There's another photo from here of my Dad drinking through a hole in the ice in the yabbie straws topic. We spent about 15 minutes sliding small stones across the ice here and It was a great day except it was the day Dads hip really started playing up and his hip went downhill fast over the next few weeks and months. He's had a prosthetic hip put in since then but he's not confident about ever doing any significant bushwalking again, which is really sad as he's the one who got me into it. I'll have to find out from the surgeon what to expect and encourage him to come on a short easy walk some time if it's appropriate.
