Day 5 is done, it is my favourite day so far. I get a little bit excited a couple of times so I had to beep out a couple of 4 letter words so my daughter can watch it!

Certainly do, would you like it? I accidentally left in my pack a couple of times when I went on a couple of side trips but the main walk from Ronny Creek to Lake St Clair visitor centre is all there including the water falls, cradle summit, old pelion hut etc.
Just finished watching all 5 days. You have done a fantastic job Dan. Well done. I don't generally like self commentary on 'home videos' but really enjoyed yours. Good to see the weather wasn't too bad for you and you managed to see some blue cloud

Can I ask what notes you were reading? Ferguson Falls are reasonably easy to get to. Just wondering if you got them confused with Cathedral Falls and Boulder Falls which are downstream from D'Alton Falls?

Thanks for the comments MickyB I would need to double check as I may have been wrong in regards to which falls I was warned off. My notes were from one of Chapmans books.

Yes that blue cloud is always welcome
If it was Chapman's Overland Track book then he warned about visiting the two falls downstream from D'Alton Falls (Cathedral and Boulder Falls) . Fergusson Falls are easy to get to but if it makes to feel better they were by far my least favorite out of Fergusson, D'Alton, Hartnett and Pelion Falls.
Yeh it sounds like I may have read my notes wrong!
Ill do my best to get Day 6 finished this weekend, its a pretty long day as I walked from Bert Nichols out to Lake St Clair but Ill do my best to keep the video as short as possible
Day 6 is finally up. I haven't had time to 'proof' watch it yet so I hope its ok!
And just because I can't pronounce Narcissus properly doesn't mean I can't lift heavy things And when I say there is going to be snow down to 'snow' Im not really sure what I was getting at!
Good one Dan could recognise many spots on the Track and glad you decided to do the Whole Walk on our many OLT walks(son and me) we have used the Ferry twice ,on our our first walk then again 16 years ago we for some reason decided that a "sprint"was the go (too many people on the Track ) so we did Ronny Creek to WFV overnight then by- passed Pelion to Kiaora overnight on then onto Windy Ridge over night and on to Narcissus and out with the Ferry only to be stuck at St Clair Tenting for a couple of days waiting for the Bus to take us back home In retrospect it is amazing what you can do if motivated and fit ,again Dan loved your trip report vids.

Thanks Dan, just watched the final episode and once again loved every minute of it.
You have single handedly inspired myself to get out and do the OLT. A friend and i are in the process of booking it in for Nov/Dec this year.
Ive also decided to give Gas and go and will leave the mighty Trangia at home, instead im setting myself up with a cooking kit much like yours for this trip. I'll be sure to give the system a good work out first just to ensure im happy with it before taking it out there tho. (Different meals / im assuming with Gas the main aim is using it to boil water only - as opposed to really 'cooking' with the Trangia).
Corvus I was surprised at the amount of people who were skipping huts due to time constraints. I liked taking my time. Except for the last day of course, it was close to my limit for time on my feet for a day.
Travis I have no issues 'cooking' in my pot. The back country meals only required water but I've since changed to strive food meals and they need simmering for a while. I'm happy to have inspired you, you will love the OLT, hopefully the weather is good to you. I'm a trangia to gas convert by the way. Can't beat gas and a titanium pot for weight and convenience.
Thanks Dan, yes your Trangia to Gas move was what prompted me too. The few discussions id read mentioned Ti pots werent as good to 'cook' in etc. so im glad to hear you have managed fine.
Regardless im sold for now. Ive been using Trangias since high school, but when i started thinking about my pack weight on the OLT, 1L metho in the red bottle + the weight of the Trangia Vs a 900ml Ti pot, stove and Gas... I couldnt help myself
Yep same reason Travis. Its the fuel and bottle weight that converted me in the end. My little burner requires that I stir my meal very regularly when I'm simmering but its fine down low if stirred properly. I haven't tried baking with it yet like I did with the trangia. Im thinking it may not be possible. I can get the flame down really low but I think the titanium wouldn't like a prolonged hot spot on a dry pot.

Why? Ti is used in aviation, often on the tip of hypersonic aircrafts and missiles where the temperature can get to four digits. It has a very high melting point. Just go for it, cook and burn!
