Lake Adelaide Camping?

I've camped at Meston and at Ball, but have never visited Lake Adelaide. I'm considering walking into Lake Adelaide in a few weeks time, and from what I've read, there is decent camping at both ends. Is this correct?

Which end has the nicer camp sites (and why do you think so)?

Looking at the map, I'm guessing that the northern end would be more sheltered from the wind, which may end up being the deciding factor for a winter walk in Tas.

Yes - good camping at both ends of the lake. The north end is more sheltered (in a grove of trees - pencil pines?), but if the weather is calm - then the south end gets more sun. There tare also some very nice campsites a little further north of L Adelaide (1 - 2 km) - close to where the track crosses small creeks. Nice sites - dry and sheltered.

Thanks Dave. Great info. I'm looking forward to getting into Lake Adelaide at last, having done a few walks either side of it in the past. Hopefully I'll get some snow.

I was down the road from there on Sunday, no shortage of snow at the moment

Nice. Just the way I like it. Got a few more weeks to wait though, so here's hoping.

Have only camped at the northern end of lake Adelaide, but there's any number of good spots available.
