Exped Megamat

These mats are too big for hIking but I'm looking at them for car based camping and day walks. Has anyone had any experience of them? Also if there are any views on whether getting the duo or two singles is better for a couple? The other mat I'm considering is the Exped sim comfort duo. Thanks

I have two SIM Comfort 5 LW mats that I use for similar occasions, which I have found to be really comfortable. They're great for me, and I can only imagine how good the 10cm mats would be to sleep on. Probably amazing.

I reckon you might be better off with two singles, and these are some things to consider on the single vs double question:
- If you have a puncture in a double, then both of you will be affected by that horrible occurrence.
- As you probably know the singles have velcro to join the two mats so they don't both creep to different sides of the tent. I've never been bothered by the tiny gap in the middle where they join, but it might be worth seeing if you can try out both in a store, as it might be annoying to others.
- If it is just yourself one night, then the added flexibility of being able to take a mat just for one, instead of something huge for two, also seems like something in favour of two singles.

Just my opinion based on what I know of the mats I have. If I had the Megamat or the Comfort Duo then I probably would have written something entirely different

I have the Megamat 10 LXW. I use it inside my Wilderness Equipment I-Explore 3 winter tent.

Simply an excellent matt. Extremely comfortable. Easy to inflate, yes you do need to assist it with the provided pump. Very easy to deflate and roll up and fit back in it's bag. I previously had a 6cm thick thermarest. Simply NO comparison. Exped wins hands down.

Now, I believe the duo is slightly smaller than 2 singles with respect to width. However, I would tend to think it would be a handfull to manage inside a tent with respect to inflating and deflating and rolling up. Maybe you would be ok with that?

I am about to buy another Megamat 10 lxw for when the wife comes along. Yes I will lose all my room in the tent, but I will be more able to manage these inside the tent.

I haven't used the Sim Comfort Duo personally, but a collague has the 10 and raves about it. What's more, he and his then 7 month pregnant wife used one, and she loved it too.

Sick of air mattresses, I am looking at upgrading to the Sim Comfort Duo for car camping too. I can't stand sleeping on balloons!

I bought the Megamat - only used it once so far, totally delightful- I'm heading off for 10 days camping soon so I will report back. I bought two rather than the duo, thanks for the advice.
