FF did all the hard work really. So do you want a hard one or an easy one next.

Ones I think will be easy usually end up with people telling me otherwise, I thought that last one was difficult.

Up to you dude!! :)

We'll go with this one then. The other one I had in mind doesn't have many visual clues.

Hmmm if this was the easier one im glad you didnt post the other one....
Are we in the Cradle NP area??

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Sun 27 Sep, 2009 6:35 pm

No, a couple of km outside the boundary.

Second clue, I'm looking due south, and what I'm looking at is inside the CMLSNP.

Near Lake McCoy looking across to Dean Bluff and Bishop Peak?

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Sun 27 Sep, 2009 6:54 pm

Very close Eggs. One out of two peaks is correct. Bishop isn't in the picture. And I'm 2 km from Lake McKoy on much higher ground.

Edit: take that back, that is Bishop.

What is the highest bit of ground closest to Lake McKoy that if you stood on it and looked south you would see Dean Bluff and Bishops Peak?

Do you think I was a bit too fussy about getting a precise location?

No, it just seemed Eggs was in the right area and would have known after your response.
Precise location is kind of important really

Hey - You weren't too harsh - I was quite wrong.
I actually thought that the view may have been from further west to get the face of the mountain like that - but for some reason it did not twig that Pillinger is also outside of the park.

I was actually happy to miss - can't afford to get too caught up in it just now.

According to the map I have the Park Boundary is drawn due east from the northern end of Lake Rosa to Wurragarra Creek, then south down Wurragarra to the Arm River Track, then along the eastern edge of the track to about 200m from the Eastern end of Lake Ayr. From there to where Kia Ora Creek enters the Mersey River straight up the face of Cathedral and then follows along the cliff face as far as Premier Peak, so that Bishop and Dean are in the Park... according to the map I have.

Well, since one of the 4 times I've been to this summit was with you I should know it
Since I have had my fair share of gos on this game tho I'll add some clues for others who haven't had much of a go.

This summit (range) is about 20 mins drive west of Maydeena, & if it weren't obscured by cloud you'd see a road down in the left of the photo.
The walk is only a couple of hours return from the road (named after a river); Tim is nearby  enough clues?

Hahaha nicely Put Stu! Indeed the one time you were with me was on the day this photo was taken, just before the snow hit us.......

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Mon 28 Sep, 2009 1:05 pm

Well thanks for the clues. I've never been down there myself, but I guess then that the photo is taken from the Needles?

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Mon 28 Sep, 2009 1:09 pm

You got it Phil!! As Stu said it is a fantastic short walk, tracked all the way to the top!! That and the Sentinels in the same day is a great way to spend a days walking in the SW. both easily done in around 2 to 3 hrs.

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Mon 28 Sep, 2009 1:30 pm

I wouldn't have had any idea had it not been for Stu basically pin-pointing the location

Let's see how we go with this photo........which is not actually taken from a bushwalk/track.
