Yes, it is Ama Dablam - then Lhotse and the wall of Nuptse with Everest peeking over the top, Luri and Taboche.

So yes, the building is the Everest View Hotel.

The only place in Europe I saw glaciers was Gornergrat, Switzerland. Could that be it?

It is. Looking up at Monte Rosa. Thought I'd put something up to go with my failed guess a few posts back.

Did you take a long drive in AZ to specifically see it?

We were staying in Flagstaff and used that as a base to visit Meteor Crater, Monument Valley (with Elephants Feet on the way) and Grand Canyon. We didn't know this existed until we drove past.

Running short of suitable photos short of flipping through old 35mm slides... Anyone, go! :)

Well summer is past - so maybe time to restart.

Hopefully this is not too hard - from Europe.

I agree wayno, this morning's forecast here is for the hottest March in 33 years. I think eggs is going strictly by the calendar :)

Anyway I believe this could be downtown Chamonix with bridge over the River Arve and the Alps in the background?

Thanks eggs, looks like it might get hotter.

From a few weeks ago in the Melanesian South Pacific. Name the bay and prominent peak on the far left, which was eventually climbed by Sir Edmund Hilary after three attempts.

Correct eggs. There is a fair bit of zoom here. I'm actually standing near a street vendor in downtown Suva overlooking Suva Bay/Harbour toward the mountains. I had no idea about Joske's Thumb until I researched similar views and found its interesting bio.

So I suspect the trees are not native to NZ, but they make a grand autumn spectacle.
Anyone want to take aim at this one?

OK, I'll make three guesses.

1. Queenstown
2. Glenorchy
3. Cardrona.

Guess 1 is closest. Its not far from there.
Actually between Queenstown and Cardrona

There's only one town on the map, especially with that clue. I'm away for the weekend so I'll leave it for someone else.

Makes sense - I thought I'd seen that kind of vegetation around there. It must have been a couple of years ago in May, when we cycled the trail from Arrowtown to the Kawarau Bridge - the one that silly people jump off. :)

Ron - this is at Arrowtown. You can go next.

What is the name of the distinctive mountain in the right of the image?

For extra kudos, what is the name of the pass I'm on?
