I've had enough gos at 'the game' so i'm not guessing this one...
another clue then, didn't think it would be needed & i'm sure ILUVSWTAS will be shocked / appaled that no one has guessed it -
this is a very obvious mountain seen when driving the midland highway, especially from the south...
also a piece of furniture you're likely to find in every home...somebody...somebody...

The 'hole' at the top of Mt Pegasus on the WA's by the looks of it?
edit: not so convinced now, don't remember it being quite that narrow, will check my own photos tonight. If not there not really sure?
edit 2: maybe it's just my fading memory of this fantastic walk, I'll stick to my original guess :oops:

Stu - I think you were right to doubt.

My photo has a very different look.

Checking on web photos I don't think it is the fabled slit access up onto Mt Claude - definitely not conglomerate.
My initial reaction was the Lost World, but it does not look like dolerite either.

So with a very quartzite look - maybe there is somewhere in the Eastern or Western Arthurs? Perhaps the ridge between Orion and Procyon?
But with only a day pack in use its probably on a day walk from the car.

Maybe there's another hole, but this way was alright, I managed to push my pack up ahead of me.. Pretty good feeling pulling youself out of that hole!
Edit: Eggs, i checked my other pics and yes, there was another way which I explored (the one in your photo) but for some reason I must've thought it was easier to go the other way..

This one should be fairly easy, heaps of clues in the photo so even if you haven't been to the area you should be able to pinpoint where I am...

Near enough robl, taken from just below the south-west side of Pelion West.
Looking back at (right to left) High Dome (on the horizon), Perrins Bluff, Achilles, Thetis, Ossa (in distance), Paddys Nut & Pelion East.

You can see the delightfully easy walking in the right mid-ground along the connecting spurs.
This trip we went from New Pelion to Paddys, Thetis, Leonards tarn (beautiful!), Achilles, Perrins (side-trip), along these open spurs to Pelion West (side-trip), sidling around the western side of Pelion West to pick up an obvious scrubby spur heading north-east to pick up the O'land track just south of Pine Forest Moor - an amazing little 4 day trip; sorry to digress, happy memories coming flooding back
