OK been a couple of days so someone else can post next...
Answer to the above is Lac Blanc in the French Alps, a popular daywalk from Chamonix and also part of the TMB.

I'll mix it up a bit - what mountain is the plane flying over?
May not be abiding completely by the rules here but I won't give a country (could perhaps make it too easy) - its on a flight between Geneva and Abu Dhabi.
(Apologies for the photo quality)

Katadinh?
Mon 06 Jun, 2016 9:51 am
Not Katadinh (not familiar with that one!)
Mon 06 Jun, 2016 9:56 am
Spelled it wrong. Katahdin. That wasn't the mountain that I was thinking of though anyway.
I meant Denali.

When we flew into Europe we passed over a very large snow covered volcano.
I had a suspicion it might have been Ararat.
Your photo is lower down, but could well be the same mountain.
Mon 06 Jun, 2016 11:42 am
Not Denali.
Mt Elbrus.
Mon 06 Jun, 2016 8:28 pm
Eggs is getting on the right track but not Elburus nor Ararat
Tue 07 Jun, 2016 12:37 pm
Hermon?
Tue 07 Jun, 2016 1:54 pm
Right part of the world (like eggs) but not Hermon
I did try getting a good photo of a plane flying over Ararat (amazing how many planes were flying in this vicinity) but to no avail. Did manage to get the photo in question as consolidation though (ie after Ararat on route)

Suphan Dagi?
Tue 07 Jun, 2016 8:32 pm
Not Suphan - I had to wait a good half hour from when we passed Ararat before this mountain came into view.
I can confirm its a Middle Eastern mountain (for those not following)
Wed 08 Jun, 2016 8:05 pm
I don't like giving in - it's a dirty big volcano in the centre of the Middle East.........
I'll give the country tomorrow if there are no takers before but wouldn't think I'd have to resort to that (will be a give away)
Thu 09 Jun, 2016 11:47 am
Ok. I'll bite.
is it Mount Damāvand?
Thu 09 Jun, 2016 7:23 pm
Bingo!
Your turn icefest.....
Thu 09 Jun, 2016 9:05 pm
Where are these people looking down/up from?
Thu 09 Jun, 2016 9:31 pm
I spent a good minute looking at the background of the photo looking for usual clues to location - elevation difference, shape of the peaks, presence of snow and no snow, geology, vegetation etc.
Then I looked at the people - YIKES!!! (I'm not going to ask.....)
Putting aside the questionable outfits (or lack their of), anything to get us somewhat in the ballpark such as country or even continent?
Fri 10 Jun, 2016 9:46 am
Inspired by Fatcanyoners....
Umm. Continent: Oceania.

Tue 14 Jun, 2016 9:54 am

Tue 14 Jun, 2016 11:48 am

Tue 14 Jun, 2016 3:34 pm
Unknown Col?
Tue 14 Jun, 2016 6:29 pm
No sorry.
(Never heard of it, funny enough)
Tue 14 Jun, 2016 9:18 pm
Shall we go a little further north and try the Whitehorn Pass on the 3 passes route?
Tue 14 Jun, 2016 9:50 pm
It's not a pass (per se) and it's not on that route (but sounds similar).
Tue 14 Jun, 2016 10:04 pm
There are 2 Three passes routes I know of in NZ.. The one way down south [nowhere near Arthurs Pass] has a Fiery Col. Would that be it?
