Hi all!
I'm new here!
Can anyone recommended a hiking company in Tasmania, please?
I was looking at a trip with one company, but when pressed they were very vague in details, as in - the final cost, departing from, accommodation during the trip and final destination. These things I would expect to be confirmed before any outlay in non-refundable $. Or is that asking too much? I don't know! I've never been on an organised hiking trip before in Tassie.
The trip I'm looking to do is from Launceston to Hobart via the East Coast taking in Freycinet and Maria Island on the way.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi NatureAsTherapy
Is there a particular reason you wish to use a company for the organisation of your trek?
All of the East coast is easy to explore independently.
I was under the impression all companies had set packages and were not that flexible.

It sounds like you are trying to arrange a private trip rather than join an open to all commercial trip.
If you want detailed information you will need to provide far more than you have:
Time of year
Duration of trip (days/weeks)
number of people
inclusions:
food, equipment, transport, park fees, accomodation....
geographical area of interest
maximum km walking per day
degree of difficulty acceptable
and so on
Then someone would be able to work out a rough guide to the cost.
But there just isn't the demand for this type pf service.
You could consider joining several fully supported guided trips, spaced appropriately to cover some of the areas you are interested in, then just getting your group from one destination to the next start point.

I saw your other post, sounds like what you want is to hire a car.
Drive out to the east coast and maybe do the Bay of Fires walk with a guiding company.
Then drive down to Freycinet and do the day walks there or I believe they have fancy overnight guided trips as well.
Then down to Maria Island you get the ferry across then its really up to you to explore.

Terrific tours with a lot of ground covered in short period of time. Aimed at short stay visitors looking for maximum value in limited time.

You may notice my 2 other posts are quite extreme opposites. (They also happen to include some companies I work for.) There are several companies operating in the middle ground but this competes with the DIY hire car approach alluded to by Azza. Therefore those companies may struggle to guarantee departures, etc. They will all be keen to do a custom tour for you but this is only cost effective if you have a group.

Here's one I almost forgot. It links the areas you're interested in using a lovely ketch called the Lady Eugenie:

Thanks everyone for your feedback!
I've been looking at Tasmanian Expeditions since my post and found the cycle, kayak and walk Tasmania trip, 6 days small group tour where all is supplied and within my budget.
Thanks!
