I'm after some webbing/strapping of approximately 5-8mm width. I have tries Tier-Gear but they only have wider types. Does anyone know of anywhere that stocks narrow widths?

Most of the sewing stores, Spotlight etc, have a reasonable range of what I would call grosgrain webbing. You would most probably find a 6mm width. I have a heap of 7mm width tape (silvery white, 760mm maximum length) from USB stick lanyards that work well with LIneLoc 3 adjusters and other purposes. PM me if you would like a length or two.

Thanks Mark,
I'll go and have a look in Lincraft tomorrow, plus a little peak in the office stationery cupboard for lanyards. I've also thought I might use the outer sheath of some paracord.

Why so narrow and for what purpose?
Also try flat shoe laces, I just measured the shoe lace on my desk at 8mm but I know I've seen thinner ones

Simply because anything heavier is not needed. I will be adding the ability to strap a solar panel to the lid of my pack. I think the paracord sheath will work well.

Paracord sheath would certainly be one of the lighter options.

Actually tape is often lighter than cord. For example 6mm grosgrain tape weighs about 3 grams per metre which is equivalent to the weight of 2mm cord.

2mm bootlace would be strong enough for that purpose, as would 3mm shockcord and cordlocks.
If it had been for loadbearing purposes I could have found you some 10mm in my stash but the 10mm is real HD stuff from parachute harness, grab loops stuff

Just out of interests sake I weighed 1m of paracord sheath and it came in at 2g perhaps nudging 3g. You can certainly get lightweight grosgrain tapes I have a 20mm polyester grosgrain that weighs 3g per metre. The lightest cord I have is 1.75mm Zingit which is about 1.6g per metre.
