TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Rain Shell Sale?

Hi Guys,
Anyone heard of these people before?

https://wildernesswear.com.au/womens-rainwear-chameleon-shell/strider-jacket-mens-1850

$399 down to $89 sounds like a bargain, but I'm dubious...

Wilderness Wear are very well known and respected. I haven't had any experience with their rainwear but others here have. A shame the Men's jacket is only available in oddball sizes.

Actually I was just looking for one for my daughter, but now that you've mentioned it - they do seem to have one in my size ;) (I must be an odd-ball  )

Thanks for the heads up. They've got some cheap merino too! * removes CC from wallet *

I purchased one of these early this year to replace a well used jacket.

Was used in Tasmania in early April with no issues and has been used many times since with no issues.

Very well made and service was excellent.

I might buy another one at that price.

Well we are impressed. Ordered one for my wife Monday evening and it arrived around midday today (Wednesday).
It is a very well made, quality coat and an absolute bargain at the price. Size 12 only weighs 550 grams so not a heavy beast either.

Thanks for the tip Aztec.

Regarding the brand - Wilderness Wear -
I've had a Wilderness Wear Polartec 300 "jacket/cardigan" for quite a long time.
It is still my cold weather preference when out and about in the snow or cold country. But too heavy and bulky for bushwalking.

Yes, mine arrived today as well...
They look suitably built for heavy rain!
Will have to try them out on the weekend...

And now having tried them out, all I can say is wow... they are fantastic...
No water getting in at all - it just beads off instantly... one slight jump, and the coat is completely dry...

Crazy stuff, 399 down to 89, men's too.
Torpedo has gone up to 112 and 10 shipping on top for the Precip. Should've got one earlier this week!

Edit oops that was the original post

What's the membrane used in the Wilderness Wear long jacket? No name brand? 700g? Sounded a bit heavy duty.

They call it "Chameleon" fabric... it's pretty tough... not sure of the weight... seems light enough for me...

Dug up an old tread...

Had anyone worn one of these long rain jackets? Looks pretty good at 300 or so grams:

WW change the range all the time and I hadn't visited in a long time but thanx to this thread I just saw [ and ordered] Thermal-Pro pants for $50-. just in case I need Arctic pajamas

Well it was a disappointing buy, the pants arrived and while well made and fit correctly they are standard PolarTec 200 fabric and not the advertised ThermalPro. I already own several pairs of 200 weight polartec pants and didn't need another I'll be returning these ASAP
