Hey guys, wanting to do a 2 nighter with some friends, however, I can get the Friday of work now. But can get an early leave pass. So would need to meet the guys hump it into camp on Friday Evening.
Any thoughts, Cunninghams-mt castle looks logisticaly hard in that situation.

Mmmm, let's see...
Rock hop, swim & explore along the river system within/borders on Crows Nest NP.
Glen Rock area, Point Pure..plenty of other natural
features, falls, ridges/peaks to check out too.

Perserverance & Cressbrook creeks run into, along & out of Crowsnest...explore & camp outside the NP boundary.

Why is remote camping not allowed?? It doesn't mention anything on the website.

Girraween NP is 2 hours from Toowoomba and bush camping is permitted in some locations.

As weeds said its not mentioned in the website...but if you have a guilty conscience
give parks a call they'll be happy to answer your query.
If it was me I'd just strap on the pack & get walking...nice & early to
beat the heat by the looks of tonights weekly weather forecast.

Your mates could walk from cunninghams to Laidley Ck Falls campsite first day, then you can drive into Sylvesters lookout Friday evening and do the short(ish) walk to meet them there. Then you can all continue on to Mt Castle the next day, camp and then back to the lookout the next where you can car shuffle them round to the gap.
Alternatively you could do a day walk to Mt Castle and back on day 2, then all walk back to cunninghams on day 3 then they can shuffle you back to your car. However, I doubt they'll want to retrace their steps here. It's interesting walking, but limited/no views and a decent days walk. Maybe just swap car keys and you can do the bit they did on the first day.

im curious as to if you actually ended up doing the cunninghams - mount castle track i did it about 3 years ago with my brother and didnt even make it to sylvesters the first day with not starting till about 9 and the bush being soo thick in sections you couldn't see 5m in front of you. i'm also a tbar resident and have been looking for a few options that around the area and have been coming up short with limited to no places to camp as far as np's are concerned it makes it hard to plan over nighters
cheers

With all the heat we've been having lately....probably somewhere cool & watery,
creek walks & waterfalls would be the best bet..
