Don't have mine yet.

Preordered hardcopies should be available for pickup tomorrow, I'm told. Well mine should be, at least

There is certainly a large price premium between the hardcover and the softback. When it arrives I hope it Is worth it!

I was cheeky and just went into Mountain Creek to see if mine had arrived without hearing from Bill, sure enough it was there.
Just had a quick flick through then, SO MANY PICTURES! Truly awesome. I now have a plan for tomorrow, seeing as walking is seemingly out

Has anyone who requested Bill to reserve a hardcopy for them heard from Bill?

Fullers bookshop in Hobart have hardback copies. Give them a call and they can post it out if that's what you want.

I didn't, but as I said in my last post I just went into Mountain Creek and they gave me my reserved copy

That's interesting considering there were supposedly only 200 copies printed. How many did they have?

The 200 figure may relate to the quantity of numbered and signed hardcopies, not the total print run?

Bill's post on Facebook said "there will be no more hardcopies available once the 200 are sold". Perhaps Fuller's are selling hardcovers left over after pre-orders?

I emailed him Saturday, but still no reply. Will report soon as I have something to report.

I didn't ask how many they had, I just rang to find out if they had any, of no specified variety. And they asked if I wanted the paperback or hard back, giving me prices of each. From that I assumed they had hardbacks as well. Sorry if I have misled anyone.

Just confirming, at Fullers we have 50 HC from the original run of 200. Well, a few less than that now...
Tue 15 Nov, 2016 7:31 am
I am about to call to place an order for a hard back
Cheers
Done and dusted. Might even have it tomorrow.

Also went to check and see if mine was at Mountain Creek, and was pleased to find it was on Saturday morning. I assume that they are likely all there. You could always give them a call and see if they have it.
Bought a paperback too... It's a beautiful book! A massive pat on the back to Bill and all involved, I'm extremely impressed.

No sign of mine yet but given it will be via Australia Post the rest of you will have read and walked half the book before I even get the wrapping off. Patiently waiting.... NOT!

If it's coming by Australia Post, those of us in WA or the NT or Nth QLD could have to wait a few more weeks. Performance is definitely not a word us Sandgropers associate with Australia Post.

Looking forward to the new route on Hyperion

Still plenty of hard cover copies at Fullers as of late this afternoon.

Mine arrived this morning...quickly flicked through it before heading out the door, looks good.

Is it worth getting the new version if you have the first edition, do you think?

YES.
I have the first edition. Its looking a little tatty around the edges. From my limited perusal of the 2nd edition so far, many of the essays are the same/similar but access details have been revised, many more photos, more information in the appendices. Just a very good revision and significant improvements.
I can read through the essay of interest in 2nd Ed, note the differences in access etc and then take the 1st Ed with me, or a photocopy of relevant pages. The hardcover doesn't get damaged and the paperback is still in use.

Yep I will definitely be photocopying pages if I need to take notes out with me. The book is just too large to carry around everywhere, and I want to keep it in good condition. I bought a soft cover version as well as the hard cover so I can have it in the car should the need for a spontaneous mission arise.
It's great that Bill has kept in touch with the various land owners, and that they are still willing to let people into their properties, and have their details published. I hope the landowners aren't swamped by people wanting to climb some of these easily accessible peaks (ie Millers Bluff and Mt Patrick).

Seems some copies have a printing error on pg 33 where there is red vertical 1-2cm lines extending from the top of the page.
Apparently all copies are being re-printed on a timeline tbd by the printers. Stores are meant to let people know when the reprints are available.
