I haven't been to this lake, but I got a fair way towards it before turning back.
I do have a photo of the background ridge with its distinctive pattern of fagus on it.

ILUVSWTAS - can't be, I lost my camera before reaching Belton, so have no photos from there.

eggs is more than likely onto it - this is a lake amongst tarns that is blessed with a lovely spray of Fagus along said ridge. This day was 34 degrees.

Lake Newdegate it is, this was my first looooong daywalk in Tas, doing the circuit past Twilight Tarn and back to L. Dobson. I remembered your comment re. Twilight Tarn Hut and youthful adventures.
It was a stinker of a day(and a summer), I just remember being amazed at how hot it can get in the mountains.
Over to you Stu :D

At least along the Tarn Shelf there is always the option of a dip on a hot summers day, time permitting of course.
This one probably won't be that hard, I was here recently (ILUVSWTAS, as you were with me on this one, no guesses for you my friend)...

Are we in the same territory as the last one? It looks a little like Pitt or Milligan (in the King Williams) - but that haze is dang clever at hiding the wider view!

Once again I am bamboozled by the cryptic clues

I think the photo of a photo (while losing the background) is a pretty good shot of the main mountain.
Probably just needed a few more people interested in guessing rather than a clue.

I presume you are on Precipitous Bluff looking north down its spine.
This is one place right off my planning scale - but it looks really gorgeous.

eggs is correct, again.
PB is desirable for its peak bagging points, eight.
If it it wasn't for the late afternoon light Federation Peak would be seen. (Actually most of my Tassie pics are hazy or foggy. :) )

No - I am not at Cape Pillar (I suspect the photo would be from a higher elevation if I was :) )
Nor is it a photo of Cape Pillar.
But you are in the right part of the state.

To assist as to where I am - it was at the start of a bushwalk, but the place itself is a non-walking "tourist spot".

Looks like taken from Remarkable Cave viewing platform, or there abouts - one of my 'local' surfing haunts.
There was a story that the cliff lines in the distance were used as target practice by the Australian Navy around WW II, not sure about the truth to this tho?

Ah of course! the walk into crescent bay! A nice dive location!! I've heard that story myself Stu!
A surfer mate of mine got slammed into the cave there while surfing once in big swell!

Right you are Stu

We were off to Mt Brown - but had a quick look at Remarkable Cave.
Realised the stench at the cave entrance was a seal carcase just under the walkway.

This is the view across to Cape Raoul.

This guy's blog agrees about the target practise http://tasbushblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/cape-raoul-10th-september-2009.html
Hunting the web though does not pull up a lot of convincing info - it all appears 3rd hand.
One old photo site suggests shell fragments can still be found there.

I guess the story changed by the time it got to me - World War I & the British Navy?
Interesting tho, maybe we can make a compensation claim to the British Govt.?

This one should be quite easy hopefully to keep things rolling.
This is one of my all time favourite summits -great walking /scrambling, great views, great atmosphere :D

Yep, first go. Stu, you're not allowed to answer this one, but I suspect the shape of the Mtn will be a dead giveaway...

PS: Not sure I'm enough of a masochist to go back to Gould. Had perfect conditions the first time, wouldn't want to spoil it!
