TIP: The online Bushwalk Inventory System can help bushwalkers with a variety of bushwalk planning tasks, including: Manage which items they take bushwalking so that they do not forget anything they might need, plan meals for their walks, and automatically compile food/fuel shopping lists (lists of consumables) required to make and cook the meals for each walk. It is particularly useful for planning for groups who share food or other items, but is also useful for individual walkers.

Woven Olefin blankets???

Mon 03 Jul, 2017 2:51 pm

Anybody ever seen or heard of one?
Found one labled Olefin blend in the Op-Shop today, bought it because I have never seen that label before and it was in the dog bedding basket for 50 cnets, I can afford 50 cents even if it needs a damned good wash
Just another mad experiment I guess

Washed and it is dry after spinning. Looks like wool but isn't. First time I have ever seen a polypropylene fabric this thick and coarse. Into the winter car kit it goes

Not its originl purpose It is a full size single blanket No other markings
If it was a hospital blanket [never heard of hospitals using them tho] it would have laundry markings etc
Just one of those interesting things I come across sometimes

Interesting to see what companies make/use Olefin fibres...

"Thinsulate", "Polar Guard", "CoolMax", "Tyvek"

All products I have at home right now... (and wearing one right now!)

I'm guessing they'd make it in varying fibre thicknesses/comfort levels...

I know it's used in some of the hiking and running socks I have.

It isn't a bushwalking product but I'll find a use for it in the car kit or for a blanket on the cot
