OK, something easy. What it is will be obvious, but where from?

Barn Bluff from Mt Emmett?

I thought it was Pelion East maybe from Pelion West?

Sorry, no and no.

Yes it is indeed the giant tit Pelion East, but not from Pelion West.

c'mon Adam, do the work for me  Paddy's Nut?

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

I think tasadam has a bit of a theme area going.
If I am right - that will be Mt Roland in the background.

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Thu 17 Dec, 2009 10:50 am

OK, I am not on Paddys Nut, and the mountains in the background are not Dean Bluff etc. The mountains in the background are much further away in distance than what Dean Bluff, Pillinger, Cathedral etc are. Not giving anything away in direction though.
Try looking more at the terrain on Pelion East than the mountains in the background as a guide, unless of course you recognize the shape of the background mountains.

What theme could that possibly be?

This one was taken from an ascent up Ossa, this might help those with their guesses (look at the different orientation of Pelion East between the 2 shots).

Nobody wants to go out on a limb and say it, eh?

I really can't afford to pursue this one - but since stu is offering up angles, I reckon this is almost the right angle on it from below the peak.
You can see the patch of burnt trees on the right and the top profile is about right.
It is from the track descending from Pelion Gap. There are a few options as to where it may be taken from.

PS - it looks like we have started playing tasadam's new game

Yes, I suppose I could offer a photo of Pelion East as well, perhaps from a prominent, recently featured peak south of Ossa.

Oops, already did! C'mon, you guys all know where I'm at, again...

Has anyone read "King Solomon's Mines" (H. Rider Haggard, I think)? I've always thought that somebody should produce a movie of this fanstastically fun adventure story (a good one, not the rubbish that's been done in the past), and that they really ought to use Pelion East and the rounded hill next to it for the scenes involving "The Breasts of Sheba". They'd be just perfect for that, especially with a bit of snow on them.

Yeh I was a bit surprised 'tit' got through when '*&%$#!' gets edited. They do use the word *&%$#! on commercial TV. Lara Bingles classic is just one example.

OR it could be used in a different way "I had a fall and my head was all *&%$#!"

Re: GAME: Where Am I? (Continued)

Thu 17 Dec, 2009 1:24 pm

That is interesting!
The capital version gets thru but lower case *&%$#! does not......

aw, don't tell me the censor is case sensitive? Do I really have to update it for all these combinations? sheesh... what a dopey system! :-)

In the mean time, please note that any (further) deliberate attempts to work around the word censor will be considered unacceptable, frowned on... um, well... just don't (of course I realise that you were probably just experimenting in this case).

Of course Nik... Purely just experimenting.... :|

nah... that pesky PHP language, in this case! :-) (or more likely those pesky PHP programmers)

BTW, I'm going to 'fix' the posts above to remove the unintentional censor work around. Sorry about all this.
