Is that Cathedral Rock you are looking down at? It's been over 20 years, but I thought Montague Thumbs area was much more scrubby than that.
Actually, would probably take you more than 2 hours to get back & upload photo, so not likely.

It was taken two hours ago but you're stuck in the office today? And that is why I used to love living in Hobart.
I reckon Tasadam is right with Catherdral Rock, taken from S of Mt Wellington summit

Definitely looking down on Cathedral Rock but not from Mt Montague(or Thumbs). They can all be seen from this place.
Probably a bit more West than South from Mt Wellington summit, would have to check though - not from Sth Wellington Track anyhoo.
Couldn't let today go without getting out there.

In that case, from Thark Ridge, which would make that gully in front NW Bay River and makes more sense than from where I was first looking. If I'm right I have no photos to post though.

You are indeed correct, Thark Ridge it is, wish I could have stayed up there, by now all the cloud over the Southern Peaks will have burned off.
Well hopefully someone else will be up there now.
First in with a photo, can go - maybe whynotwalk is back?

At least you had the opportunity to go up there, I don't have anything as wild and close to dash up. I'm stuck at home with my house invaded by boys at the moment. The joys of school holidays!

Solomon's Throne?

Too easy hey Ollster
Those Pencil Pines down in Dixon's Kingdom make for a pretty magical spot too!
A quick game's a good game, over to you!

Seeing as last time I posted my pic was solved in seconds... I won't be quite so kind this time around.
[The pic will also rule out the participation of a regular participant or two. One of them should be thankful that I didn't use the other pic where he was posing like Conan the Barbarian.

Hahaha Conan indeed.... Sadly it's a fair description and I have no ground for argument......
Mon 21 Dec, 2009 1:43 pm
And, no, it's not in the list of recent peaks that ILSWT has as his sig...
Mon 21 Dec, 2009 2:56 pm
Has to be some obscure lump of rock sticking out of the SW somewhere with numbers allocated according to pain endured - the latest entries have some good names though.
A guess - Mt Frederick?
Mon 21 Dec, 2009 3:05 pm
Nup, wrong quarter... have a look at ILSWT's list of recent peaks for a hint.

Im quite sure i'll be busy the day they plan to visit it too.........
Mon 21 Dec, 2009 5:47 pm
Yeah I think I would give it a miss too, perhaps NE somewhere?
I know you guys have been on some missions up there.
Mon 21 Dec, 2009 10:08 pm
Sorry for the slow update. Yeeeeeeahs, NE it is. It's like nowhere else.

Yes, but there is another! My hint is a different type of geographical feature.

Too deep for me. Maybe I need more coffee.

It be near enough to a puzzle... overlooking one, infact.
Tue 22 Dec, 2009 9:59 am
Well I'm puzzled it's too deep for me as well, how about Byatts razorback?
Hot/cold?
Tue 22 Dec, 2009 10:05 am
Welllll...
Looking at all the clues and doing a bit of googling (trying to solve this one to keep the game moving) (and I've had another coffee)
Looking at ILUVSWTAS's recent peaks in his sig...
Mt Morrison is somewhere near Ross. And that photo looks nothing like Ross. So I'm discounting that one.
Spion Kop is in South Forest according to a number of google results, and we know this photo is somewhere in the northeast.
That leaves Mt Blackboy.
It's in the Northeast, it has Mathinna Falls, a 4 tier waterfall cascading down its side. But I cannot find reference to something on it that resembles a puzzle.
I might have to open "thelist" and have a browse to see what's near it.

Hot/cold?
Cool. My spot is south of Fingal.
Tasadam, I'm sure you can figure it out from thelist. My clues should help pinoint the area.
Tue 22 Dec, 2009 11:46 am
OK, another hint... the mountain is canonised.
Tue 22 Dec, 2009 12:24 pm
St Pauls Dome?
Tue 22 Dec, 2009 1:09 pm
Keep guessing!
